Very disappointing. In house service excellent nothing too much trouble but badly let down by quality and quantity of meal e.g 1 scallop cut in half with some sauce for starter, supposed to be free range turkey but was from Turkey roll and was very thinly sliced by machine the one sprout my husband got was hard and in edible, dessert was a minute Christmas pudding with about a tablespoon of brandy sauce. Have been to Ducks Restaurant several times in the past but will definitely not return - unless I hear they have a new chef!

Looking to fill a day between the Border Country and a concert in Glasgow, we happened across an interesting concept in Aberlady, a restaurant with rooms where the meal is the jewel in the crown in this welcoming establishment a stone's throw from Edinburgh. A pleasant homely bar and warm, modern restaurant offer an extraordinary selection of wines and whiskies. The uncomplicated menu caters to both traditional and adventurous tastes, with delicate flavours and rich and well balanced textures. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and company of our hosts.

We popped in for a quick bowl of soup, and were pleasantly surprised. A lovely little bar, with a welcoming atmosphere. We all went for the celeriac and truffle soup which was far superior to the usual fare you would get in a place like this. A real depth of flavour. The text of thereby looked appealing and we will definitely be back. Would recommend it to all!

Hearing that Malcolm Duck had hired a new chef we had to go and make sure the food was still up to standard. We were not disappointed, the new chef has come with some great new ideas and at first may not look appealing but I'm always willing to try something new. Onion soup with bits of Black Pudding and Creme Fresh served with freshly baked bread did not jump out as a must try, but having tried it I must say in future it will be a 'Must Have'. The flavours complimented each other extremely well. The main of Fillet of Pork was also a surprising delight, very lightly smoked before being cooked which worked a treat.
As always Malcolm Duck was on hand going round and making sure everyone was enjoying their meal. Can't wait to go back and try some of the New chefs other delights as what we have tried so far were superb and a refreshing twist on some old favourites.
