Went to the coach house this week for first time, was impressed by staff seemed willing to help. However most of the interior looks beautiful but the red plastic chairs looked out of place (think they were Eco chairs??) menu could do with being clearer had to ask what options were for baked potato. Food was very fresh even though we visited on a horrid day when there were very few other customers. Lots of work men/women in and out for their lunch(remarked on how clean they were considering it was such a muddy day) will definetily return hopefully when we can sit outside

We visited the cafe after visiting Santa in Dumfries house. The food is really nice and reasonably priced. I have visited before and the service was not great but it was fine on this visit.

On visiting the Bistro after our tour of the House and Estate I was extremely let down with this experience. Upon entrance I saw a staff member behind the counter who appeared bored and uninterested. A few tables were dirty and I had to wipe mess of the table we sat at. Furthermore the young lady could not even provide a welcome smile.

To highlight I was not happy with bistro's cutlery which was all bundled together. In my opinion this gives the impression of laziness from staff.
The food was good standard which redeemed itself a bit on marks.

Overall lacklustre the bistro is the main let down from the whole experience at Dumfries Estate.

Its takes a joint effort from all involved to make people come back.

Please dont take this as a put down but more of a concern that needs address. Hopefully I can return in the future and recieve better service.

Called in to this coffee house/restaurant which is located in the coach house (built by John Adams). The coffee is first class as are the fruit scones, served with cream and jam - highly recommended!

We visited Dumfries House and took the 11.30am tour led by Roger. What a font of knowledge he has and he was engaging witty and brought the house to life. I am very impressed by all the work that has been carried out although it would have been interesting to see pictures of the before restoration so that we could fully appreciate all the work and cratmanship which has gone into this project in such a short space of time. Ladies before leaving Dumfries House take a look at the loos they are quite something!
After the tour we visited the Coachouse and were tempted by soup and a sandwich which were excellent. (Even the previous Archbishop of Canterbury was lunching there!) The coachouse is reasonably priced and and the staff are very helpful and welcoming.
We will certainly be back and I urge everyone to visit Dumfries House as soon as possible!
