My husband and I visited here for a Xmas Eve Spa followed by dinner in the Afton Restaurant. Staff were all friendly and very welcoming and we spent a very pleasant few hours in the Spa which we pretty much had to ourselves before a three course dinner. We visited on the recommendation that the food was good and we were not disappointed. We had three courses plus wine for just over £60 which we thought was extremely good value considering the quality of food. It was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Although we did not stay overnight the parts of the Hotel we saw had a lovely ambience and a contempary decor. I would definitely visit again if we find ourselves in this neck of the woods.

We stayed at the hotel as part of a groupon deal. We stayed in Garden room which was lovely. Beautiful big bed. A terrace with table and chairs which in the summer would be perfect. Only problem was the heating it was so warm in the room had to open patio doors to cool off. Paid supplement at dinner for steak and was a little disappointed. Instead of potato and chips would it not be better to have one carb choice and some veg. Didn't think it justified the extra cost. But the hotel is worth a visit, staff very friendly and rooms beautiful. Will be back.........minus steak!!

Room Tip: Garden room. Great size and terrace

From arrival to departure we had no issues & the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Our room overlooked the small loch & had nice countryside views. The room was clean, quiet & comfortable but could do with a refurbishment, some areas were a bit tired. We visited with friends on an Xmas party night, but the food was pretty good & not like some of the offerings we have been given elsewhere on party nights. Breakfast was great, lots of choice, quality food & nice views from the dining room.

Room Tip: As for a loch view as you look out to the west & you will get a nice sunset.

visited this hotel for a 'Girls Day out' for Christmas which I thought was excellent value for money.
Bare chested waiters, champaigne on arival, nibbles, fashion show and make up demonstration.
Staff were very friendly and allowed us a sneaky view of the spa - very appealing. The only reason I have not given this five stars is - we booked a table for lunch which we had to wait an hour for. No vegetarian food was available. Service was quite poor.

We stayed at the hotel as part of a group on deal which was excellent value! We got a free upgrade to a garden room which was very spacious and immaculate. It also has a small terrace with table and chair which would be great in the summer. We used the Thermal spa which was complimentary but you need to book it. It has a spa pool, sauna, steam room etc it was lovely and relaxing. Dinner and breakfast were really good. Service throughout the hotel was really good and friendly. The extension (spa, new restaurant, more rooms) has been been added since we last stayed and it is really nice. Views are also great.

We stayed here overnight as we were at a wedding in the hotel. As the name suggests the hotel is set right on the loch just before you arrive into New Cumnock. It's right off the main A76 road to Dumfries so it's easy to get to. The interior was lovely and cosy- all the Christmas decorations are up at the moment so looked very festive. The rooms were nice with the biggest bed I have seen in a while! The room was very warm despite the heating being turned off but we opened the windows and problem solved! The food in restaurants was really good too. Didn't get the chance to try the spa but would finitely stay here again- there looks to have been some good deals on so will keep an eye out for the future.
