Hi,

This was a return visit to Granny Bos again on a quick stop business lunch. An even better experience this time and i even got a smile from the staff!

We opted for the Special being ‘roast beef’, tasty enough though still served with those ‘frozen’ veggies (i presume to be frozen, feel free to correct me)

The portions are not the largest, though this is not a problem as the array of sweets often tempt you towards a wee treat at the end.

Great value at 2 x roast beef, 2 drinks & 2 x ‘Malteser’ tray bakes weighing in at just approx £15.00.

Service was very prompt, polite and efficient, always a good site when ‘table reserved’ signs already up at lunchtime almost all the remaining tables taken, we were lucky to get a seat.

Free on street car parking available just outside the front door with a time limit of 1 hour.

The toilets are spotless and also they don’t seem to have a problem with a mum breast feeding the hungry wee one, unlike some establishments.

Recommended yet again,

Enjoy!

Love all the crocheted tea cozies, pillows, decorations and the vintage china that is used for serving. Best dessert I had while in Northern Ireland! The owners are fun and obviously love what they do! A MUST stop if you are in the area!!!

Just like granny used to make! Everything about this place reminded me of my granny's house. Old fashioned tea pots, tea cups etc. crochet accessories, just transported me to the distant past, great experience!
Tea was made to perfection, scone however was overheated in the 'microwave' and could have been a bit larger, only starting to enjoy it and it was gone! Staff were lovely with the exception of the older guy who was personality minus! Would definitely go back for a meal and hope to do so in the near future.

Food is yummy desserts are divine decor is lovely. The man who served us was quite abrupt not pleasent would have expected a more personal service from somewhere so small. Had pasta carbonara which was delicious second to none. Kids had chicken and chips they enjoyed but i felt very average. Based on service wouldn't go back but based on food would eat there everyday if i could. Also on a final note my coffee wasnt very warm

Hi,

If you’re ever in the Ballynahinch area the Granny Bo’s is worth a visit, open less than 1 year and making a good name for itself.

It was my choice for a quick business lunch with free street parking at the front door (max 60 minute stay & no return within 2 hours) If you're not local then beware the traffic wardens (Redcoats) DO NOT overstay your time. Other Pay car parks are available within easy walking distance and are well signposted.

We both opted for the main course special of ‘Chicken & Ham Pie’, i will describe this meal as ‘fine’. I’m a big fan of hand cut chips, i presume the chilled variety were served here along with what seemed like frozen assorted veg. (please correct me if i'm wrong) A bit of a let down as the pie was tasty and cooked to perfection. Anyway i don't want to appear too fussy as the whole bill came to £10.60 for 2 mains and 1 soft drink. Absolutely nothing wrong with the meal when purchased at that price for a quick lunch.

The service was quick and well mannered, we may even have got a smile, not sure though.

Great varied menu offering everything from a sandwich to a minute steak (£10.00)

Although (only due to my time limit) i managed to resist temptation of the wide array of sweet options available. Being quite quirky they advertised the sweets as ‘80’s Goodies’ offering all the old favourites as listed below:

Pavlova
Apple Pie
Cheesecake
Banoffee
Knickerbocker Glory
& Hot Fudge Cake

Sounds Yuuuummmmmy

As you may guess from the selection above & cafe name, the whole decor is in the Old Country Kitchen style with a few modern touches such as the canvas hangings with quotes / song lyrics. It is beautifully finished and very well presented, a credit to the owner. I have attached a few pics.

Breakfast is served from 0830 - Noon

Lunch from Noon - 4pm moving onto ‘Early Bird’ Specials in the evening @ £6.95, well priced!

A great wee spot and ideal for a lunch stop over if travelling from Belfast down the Mourne Mountains or Newcastle (Co Down), or indeed Dinner on the way back!

WiFi is not available though i was about to pick up a download speed of 26meg via my sim card (iPad) inside the restaurant, not bad.
