“Looked nice, but disappointing service”
Reviewed June 28, 2006

I recently booked rooms at Whitepark house for several guests but ran into car trouble on the way and was unable to arrive to spend the night. The owner was called and advised of our problem and was not sympathetic in the least to our cause. I was made to feel guilty for putting him out despite having to pay for car repairs and end up in a more expensive hotel for the night, and did not get to see the sights.

We later drove by and the guesthouse has a stunning location and looks lovely, but do not expect any sympathy or good service if you have problems on the way.

We'd been trying to get a break at Whitepark for ages. Ever since the publicity about Bob winning Landlady of the Year back in 2003.
Each time I tried the place was full. Having finally got to stay last week, I can see why.
All the plaudits for Bob from the industry, people on this site and the guestbook in his hall are well deserved.
A homely atmosphere, pots of tea, more than our fair share of fifteens, really comfy beds, amazing breakfasts and a friendly, knowledgeable host.
All too often we travel the world for pleasure when it can just as easily be found on our doorstep.
Thanks Bob for the wonderful stay. We;ll be back in try out that big room. Get the kettle on.

We spent one night here over Easter on a fleeting trip to the North Antrim Coast. The B&B is in a great location - 10 mins to the Giants Causeway and 10 mins to the rope bridge. Bob the "landlady" was very friendly and gave us some good local knowledge on where to park when visiting the causeway which saved us £5 and hours of queuing! Room was lovely with a great view. If you want to go out for dinner and don't want to drive Castle taxis based in Balycastle will pick you up and drop you off in Bushmills and then come and pick you up later for £30. The Distiller's Arms is excellent for food.

My fiance Helen and I spent one night at the Whitepark House, but wish it was longer. From the view of the garden, to the view of the sea, you couldn't find better scenery. Bob is a great entertaining host and very deserving of his Landlady of the Year title. From his homemade tray bakes and bread in front of the fire, Bob gives you the best atmosphere we have ever experienced in any Bed and Breakfast. Bob was also great in helping us plan our day and evening. We can't wait for our next trip up to Whitepark Bay.

My fiancé and I took a quick holiday to Ireland. Whitepark House was the finest bed and breakfast we had the pleasure of visiting. Believe the reviews written before this one, Bob was the finest host and provided excellent advice from dining to where to park to save a few pounds while visiting the landmarks. I can see why he was named Landlady of the Year. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We will absolutely return for another stay.

Bob, the host, greeted my son by name as we walked through the front door, much to my 12 year old’s surprise. This personal touch was evident throughout our three days there.

Whitepark House is an unusual B&B in an excellent location for the beautiful North Antrim coast. It is a large house on the main road only about 5 miles from the "must visit" Giants Causeway and 2 miles from the rope bridge at Carrick-a-Rede. Bob Isles welcomes guests with a cup of tea, home made cakes and lots of advice about where to eat out and where to go. The Distillers Arms in Bushmills is particularly good for an evening meal.

The house is decorated with an Asian theme showing the hosts own travel preferences. The bedrooms are all very comfortable, but be aware that there is no TV available to guests. Yes, 12 year olds can survive 3 days with no TV!

Although the bathroom is shared between the 4 bedrooms, Bob marshals the troops to have a half hour slot before breakfast. The breakfast is cooked to order and Bob remembers your preferences if staying more than one night. Just don’t stick a video camera in his face at breakfast and tell him to “say hi Bob”, as some of our cousins from across the pond may be inclined to do! It is a beautiful bathroom with separate shower and bath. This is a B&B not to be missed and a really worthwhile alternative to a hotel.

The previous reviews say it all so a few words should confirm that Bob's standards haven't slipped since he won the title of Landlady of the Year (in 2003 I think). Tea and homemade biscuits on arrival, an interest in what we would like to do and where we might want to eat. It was down to Bob that we drove to the Giants Causeway on the evening we arrived when the sun was finally making an appearance and had a great time. Also the pub he recommended was full of characters, had good food and a chap who played the fiddle but came from Kent!

The room had great views of the rear garden and was very spacious. The shared bathroom proved not to be an issue for anyone whilst we were there. Breakfast was cooked to order, great choice and great food.

Enjoyed the friendly banter with Bob during our two nights there and will return if I can convince my other half to walk more of the beautiful coastal paths.
