This house indeed was a wonderful find for my family and grandkids and we will share these memories for years to come. Our every needs were thought of and the kids entertained themselves all day long outside in the fabulous gardens. So many places to visit from this location. Thank you Alex for such a warm welcome and a wonderful stay.

“Simply the best”
Reviewed July 2, 2019 for a stay in July 2019

All the reviews of this place suggest it is outstanding and I readily agree! The setting was perfect for us to stay as an extended family, attend a wedding locally, visit friends and strike out for some sightseeing. Although in a wonderfully secluded and green location, main roads are easily accessed in 5 mins.

The house has a lovely terrace off the first floor living area which is perfect for sunny days, and we did see some. Various spots in the beautiful largely private gardens round the mill, to sit and contemplate the water or engage with the friendly chickens and family dogs.

The house itself has 4 beautiful bedrooms, tastefully designed and very comfortable. Enough hair dryers and power points. Similarly the 2 bathrooms, kitchen and utility area look great and hot water is plentiful. Absolutely clean and well equipped with high quality bed linen and towels. It would be easy to live here for ever.

Consumables such as soaps, detergent for the washing machine etc are of high quality and “green”. Recycling and composting are part of the ethos, and chickens will happily recycle bread. Birds are plentiful and we saw 2 kingfishers and a heron.

Alex is an imaginative, organised and generous host. Fresh bread, milk and various treats were awaiting us. Although we saw very little of her, she was available and responsive to any communication.

There was really nothing lacking, and our stay was amazing and so relaxing. If you came as a tourist you would find many key sites of interest less than an hour away, and quick access to main roads, yet no background noise, is helpful in a country blessed with a huge number of back roads and fewer dual carriageways.

A big thank you to Alex for an exceptional weekend stay we will remember for a long time.

“Perfekt zur Entspannung und Erkundung Nordirlands”
Reviewed May 4, 2019 for a stay in April 2019

(For English see below)

We spent wonderful and very relaxing 5 days in the old Linen Mill in Kells. It is a beautiful restored old mill building including a cozy yeard providing a lot of space for relaxation. Its located quiet and remote but also ideal to explore both the town of Belfast and the northern cost with its touristical highlights (Giants Causeway, Bushmills Whiskey Destillery, Dark Hedges, Dunluce Castle etc.). We would particularly highlight the kindness and hospitability of the landlords. Already before our arival and during our whole stay Alex provided us with a lot of information and help. Even more, since we arrived at Good Friday (were shops normally are closing earlier) she filled-up the fridge with the most necessary things.
Once again many thanks for these beautiful days which we will never forget!

“Wedding Bliss”
Reviewed March 19, 2019 for a stay in October 2018

Cannot rate my stay high enough! Beautiful and luxurious restored linen mill - stayed here with my family the night before my wedding and had a relaxing morning getting ready with my bridesmaids - the setting just made it so perfect. I was concerned about the river flooding but wedding cars drove over the ford no problem. There is another way in and out but driving over the ford is the quickest way. The owner is extremely helpful and had even left a wedding card and a hamper with lots of beautiful goodies which was a lovely touch and fresh lilies in my bedroom! There was everything we needed and more. The beds were very comfortable and everything was to the highest standard. An unforgettable experience!

“The detail in the building is a credit to Alex, the owner.”
Reviewed September 19, 2018 for a stay in September 2018

The Linen Mill, Kells is the conversion, with working water wheel, that we rented for the family this weekend. Cannot recommend it more highly, it was comfortable and homely with loads of features, with plenty for oldest to youngest in the whole venue. The detail in the building and the furnishing is a credit to Alex, the owner. Alex was helpful and accommodating to the needs of our family party, and a welcoming host. We had to re-arrange our arrival time at short notice, and she postponed an appointment for us. This was before we made a connection through family unbeknown to us in a neighbouring farm, and old school friends of mine in the locality! The location is beautiful on the Kells Water, accessed by a substantial ford; and alternative access is available. Alex is proud of the Green credentials of the site, and has put in place through the layout, and her efforts, to encourage wildlife, from bats to otters. I took the opportunity to take a lot of photo's during the stay, and expect that the charm would be evident at any time of the year.

Reviewed September 2, 2018 for a stay in August 2018

Thank you Alex for a wonderful Break. The beautifully restored old linen mill is exactly that- beautiful! The most idyllic location, and such a special house that is warm, welcoming, unique and interesting. My family loved the nature and peacefulness while being close to great places to visit. Alex was wonderful and we felt very welcome. I can safely say we are already looking forward to our next break in the beautifully restored old linen mill. I Cannot recommend highly enough x
