Kellswater Mill is an historic converted flax mill. It has oodles of character and charm. It is set in an idyllic quiet location a few miles from Ballymena, with facilities in the nearby village of Kells. If you like sharp, contemporary chic then this isn't for you, but we loved it. It was amazingly comfortable for seven of us, and would have managed a couple more with ease. The owner could not have been more friendly, helpful or welcoming. Without a doubt we'll be back at some point for a longer stay, if only to have time to sit and look out for the kingfishers and otters that frequent the river in front of the mill. Thank you Alex.
Seeing is believing - stayed with family over a weekend while spectating at sports event in Antrim - from arrival to departure principal and recurring topic of conversation was how splendid and welcoming the house was and how helpful and obliging owner Alex was.
Excellent weekend Family get-together. We booked this house for the long weekend (Saturday to Monday) and it was fantastic. The river and working mill wheel made it a very unique setting. It is a beautiful location - very tranquil! We couldn't believe how we were only 30 minutes from Belfast - such a difference! The house itself is brilliant, very spacious and warm (on a particularly cold weekend). We were provided with plenty of fuel for the stove fire and everyone enjoyed the house. We have a 6 month old baby and a high chair, travel cot, sterilising kit were all provided as standard.
We would recommend this house very highly!
We had an Irish family reunion at this simply stunning location in Kells. A Christmas away from home is always a gamble but from start to finish we could not have asked for more. The entire house was tastefully decorated for us on arrival. Food in kitchen and plenty added extras . The Mill itself is wonderful to see and the ford and rivers running through are different and we just loved our stay . Perfect host ,surroundings and atmosphere. Couldn't fault it .
Just stayed in this house for two nights.
It is absolutely stunning. Th pictures don't do it any justice.
It's very spacious and it was the perfect size for the 5 of us.
It was immaculate and had lots amenities which was very helpful for us as we were travelling light.
Alex the host was so helpful and even left us some bits to eat and drink.
The location was great, about 20 minutes from the airport and in the most gorgeous setting.
I can't stress enough how lovely this property is and the watermill is great.
Would love to come back here again in the future.
We have just come back from a weekend in the Kellswater Mill. It exceeded all of our expectations.
The property was fantastic, a makeover worthy of the programme Grand Designs. The owners have paid huge attention to detail, making the property both comfortable and unique.
The setting was magical, as we arrived, we drove over the river to a stunning location surrounded by nature. The blossoms were falling from the trees and there was even a heron perched in the river.
The owner stays onsite and could not have been more helpful. My little boy fell in love with her 3 dogs.
My family all thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and felt the photos online did not do it justice.
We were sad to leave as they felt there was much more they could see and do if they stayed longer and I could only cheer them up by promising that we would try and come back again.,
We booked the mill for my mum's 60th birthday dinner with a few good friends and a nice stay. It was absolutely sensational! The service was incredible with lovely ,friendly and patient hosts.
The rooms were sublimely decorated and our hosts didn't forget to give those added touches of luxury including the fire, fresh flowers and luxury bath soap.
The venue is in an unspoilt piece of heaven and has a quirky situation just over the (an often overflowing) river.
Didn't want to leave, and will certainly be returning!!
