We stumbled into a traditional Irish music session in the small bar of this hotel, and it was absolutely fantastic and authentic (much better than the more commercial sessions we saw in Dublin and Derry).

The food at the hotel's restaurant was also quite good, and our waitress was extremely friendly to two disoriented American visitors (she was a lovely young girl, so perhaps we lucked out on not getting the same waitress some other reviewers are complaining about). It's really the perfect place to have dinner and a Guinness while listening to excellent traditional music.

Yesterday I went to a function in the Adair Arms hotel and wasn't impressed. Only for the particularly pleasant young barman serving me, I would have rated the experience as 'poor' instead of average.
To start the hotel looked nice as I walked in, it's refurbishment whilst in the same style as previously was fresh looking.
The problems started with the dining, there wasn't enough food.
So some of the diners at my table were served an incomplete meal. Myself and another diner were served nothing at all and sat with empty plates for about 5-10 minutes till we had to complain to the staff serving food to the other people at the table. After a heated discussion between the serving staff they told me they had miscounted the number of guests, took our plates into the kitchen and returned them thankfully with food.
The guests whose rations were incomplete asked for what was missing, were told the food would be brought out, but it never was.
The waiting staff displayed little in terms of pleasant and helpful personalities, instead they were almost all dour and noncommittal.
The desserts again were short so two fruit salads were plonked down on the table and we were told that was all they had. This really is not good enough.

Would I return to this hotel? In short, no.

Having stayed here over 2 years I was really pleasantly surprised by how much the hotel has improved. The rooms are modern and comfortable with good facilities and the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel is well located for the centre of the town. I would definitely stay there again. Very good value for money

Becoming much more comfortable and convenient since that change over. On the right track. stopped using it prior to changing hands as it was a disaster but back using it mostly for midweek business. It is also well positioned for sightseeing/ golf etc. Food of good standard and staff are always very nice and welcoming. The refurbished rooms are nicest but the older rooms are kept clean.
