Since we stayed elsewhere, I can't rate the hotel, but can highly recommend the restaurant. four of us ate here two nights in a row and without exception had excellent food. The location offers an ocean view and the service was friendly and efficient.

A well managed, established hotel. Food selection and quality is outstanding, staff all very helpful, attentive and approachable. Restaurant is clean and tidy, and you feel very welcome. It is an inviting atmosphere with it's old stone walls, period features, and modern twist added into the mix. Ideal for a quiet meal with family or friends, or a social drink. Highly recommended.

Great food with reasonable prices we enjoyed the open fire which made this a cosy atmosphere and the staff were lovely.

We had actually booked another restaurant which had boiler problems and had to cancel our reservation. We stopped off at the Halfway House and booked a table for the same night. I had a fillet steak which was the best steak I ever had. We were told the veg of the day was carrots and peas however when our meals came we also got fried onions and corn on the cob which was lovely. I had banoffee pie and my husband had pavlova which were both excellent.
The restaurant was busy but staff were very welcoming and helpful. There was a lovely peat fire burning which, on an October evening, added to the ambience.
All in all a fabulous meal and if in the area again we will return.
