“Pleasant visit but I would not travel far to visit it.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

This is a very pleasant walled garden maintained by a very small staff. The gardens exude peace and tranquility, however the same cannot be said about the cafe. It is too small for the facility. On balance it was a pleasant visit, but I would not allocate any more than one hour for it, which begs the question - Is it worth while driving a long distance to get to it?

“A garden for all seasons”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

We always enjoy showing N.Ireland to our visiting friends and relations and what better on a warm clear summer day than a tootle up the Antrim Coast Road and a late lunch in the café at Glenarm Castle. The food was delicious, generous and fresh; we felt the wheaten bread must be just out of the oven! After this we thought the Walled Garden might be an anti-climax but we were wrong, it was an utter delight - so many "rooms" all separate and invisible from one another, so much variety, so many shades and textures, so many tempting seats just to sit on and absorb the delights. Five o'clock crept up on us unawares and we will definitely visit again at another season of the year. Spring, and the Tulip Fest sounds unmissable.

“superb walled garden made for a great day out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

We visited the walled garden on a sunny Sunday - spectacularly beautiful and unusually big for a walled garden. Our favourite bit was the 'hot' border and the herb garden. Lots of places to just sit and look around, the garden is like a series of rooms with distinctive planting, features and atmosphere. I should also add that the Antiques and Things shop at the side of the kitchen garden is well worth a visit - lots of good pressed glass, old jewellery, china and enamel at very reasonable prices and a pleasant, friendly proprietor. Finally, we had our lunch outside - soup and sandwiches and plenty of it. The service was good, food delicious. All in all, a really good day out.
