This is really neat tapas/cafe bar in central Cottingham, East Yorkshire.
The lay out is very good with tables both inside and out. And of course the comfy sofas.
We had chilled drinks and home made fish cakes with very chunky chips! This came with a side salad all presented perfectly. You are given a very large portion, a bit too much for me and certainly for mum.
The cafe is clean the loo's also very clean, which I feel says a lot about the establishment as a whole. The staff were pleasant and smartly dressed.
We noted that there seems to be a few older regulars, who were well taken care of.
I would recommend The Purple Cow for your lunch or evening meal. They also do private functions. Give it a try.

Four of us visited on Father's Day and I was surprised to be able to get a table when I only called the day before. Really pleasant surroundings and also had outside seating. The menu is less extensive than some however I'm sure anyone could find something they fancy - wide range of speciality sandwiches, omelettes plus a number of more substantial main courses. In addition there is a specials board. We were greeted by a pleasant staff member who gave us a choice of tables. I felt we waited just a little too long before being asked if we wanted drinks or to order our food, however the girl who did this was very pleasant and happy to check on anything we were unsure of. The food was cooked fresh to order and was really tasty. We followed with coffees and then sat outside for a further drink. Despite minor concerns, would definitely visit again and would like to try the tapas menu available on an evening.

First time at this place. We went for tapas as we are a big fan of Spanish food. Menu was quite small but they had a good offer on of 5 dishes plus a bottle of wine for £30. We were a bit worried as the tapas choices were not very Spanish. We chose a lovely bottle of Temparillo which very, very good. The food whilst not very Spanish was really well prepared and presented and very good and we really enjoyed it. Serving staff very efficient and friendly . We will be back:-)

Lovely food shame about the service and when booking over the telephone was informed that they 'need the table back' at a required time, felt like not going but as planned for a group we did. Felt rushed and a nuisance to the staff when coming to our time up!!
