We arrive in the dark, there were no lights on, the entrance wasn't obvious, the entire end of the building was scaffolded, the restaurant was closed and semi derelict, the garden was unkempt, there was only one other car on the car park. we thought we were in the wrong place! The man on reception was friendly and helpful. The room was well presented and comfortable but there was a skip under one window and the other overlooked an overgrown garden. The bathroom wasn't very clean, the end of the shower tap came off in my hand and we were told that there were plumbing problems. We wondered why we were given this room when there were only two other rooms occupied, and more glamorous rooms shown on the website. The Dining Room appeared to have been newly decorated and was pleasant but the outlook was of the scaffolding and no outside seating on the patio as shown on the website. The breakfast was 'help yourself', only the toast and coffee were hot. Extremely disappointing and a rip off at £95. Booking.com should not be promoting this hotel until the refurbishment has been completed
