Went on a groupon voucher which was incredible value for money.
The prawn cocktail starter was massive and full of prawns. The crab salad starter wasn't so impressive in size but still nice.
The fillet steak was brilliant. My companion had the steak and prawns - this was a trickier meal to cook. The prawns are more like langostines and must be butterflied straight away for them to cook through. This is where it gets tricky and I suggest you ask for an extra plate so that your steak can be put on this so it doesn't continue to cook too much whilst you're wrestling with the prawns. In fact I too asked for an extra plate in order to put my steak on it.
The chips were nice and the salad was fresh.
Neither of us had dessert, so can't comment on that.
Service was excellent.
The chef has an idea of what gluten free is.
The downside is the pub needs better ventilation because when there are multiple volcanic rock steaks cooking it can get very smokey. Consequently, I really wish to go back and eat again but only in the summer when I can sit outside and be sure I won't get too smoked out!
