We were in town and fancied a pre dinner drink -we came in here and it was full of locals. The bar staff were very friendly and we decided to stay and eat -we had a very nice typical pub grub dinner. We will be back.

Visited on two separate occasions in December 2013 - one for a lunch with a friend and the other an evening meal with family.
On both occasions the food was beautifully cooked and the staff very friendly.
A great find and a must to visit.

It's nice to go to a pub that cooks its own food instead of reheating stuff from Brakes or 3663 and even nicer when they don't charge you silly gastropub prices for the pleasure. The pastry on the Steak & Ale pie was nothing special but the meat was very good quality and the gravy was the tastiest I've had for a long time. It came with a decent portion of chips too. They also serve some nice real ales. The only thing I would say about the pub is that they need to improve their ventilation system.

On Saturday eve the pub is a fairly lively one and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and had a good pub meal. On Sunday eve it is a much quieter place (especially as holiday season now over) but enjoyed our meal and a chat with some members of staff, who were friendly and helpful.
