“So good I returned the following day”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

I visited the Stalbridge Arms on Saturday night with my wife and our 10 month old son. Firstly, it was nice that they welcomed our little one whereas other pubs would have closed the shutters on seeing the pushchair entering the car park.

Here are the highlights: nice decor in the dining area, unpretentious menu, great hosts, service with a smile, the best dessert I've had for a long time (banana fritters with cinnamon ice cream), steak perfectly cooked with a tasty jus, nice few pints of Piddle (local beer for the uninitiated) and a reasonable bill. What more does one need? The food is in gastropub territory but it still feels like a proper pub i.e. menu in English with no tosh, nice bar area, comfy seating next to a fire and a skittle alley with pool table.

I'm thrilled that Stalbridge has a decent place to eat and hang out at last. We already have the best supermarket and butcher in Dorset and now with the Stalbridge Arms the future looks very bright indeed. Thank you Piddle Brewery!

“Fab Service and Friendly staff!”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Have been for lunch a couple of times with friends now. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the manageress is very friendly with a warm welcoming and all the other staff are lovely and are also very helpful and polite. Service was very qucik and polite, anything i needed was got! I would recomend this pub as the new restraunt is lovely and cosy, the bar area is very inviting and the skittle alley is a lovely bonus for familys! They are also starting to do a Quiz Night on sunday evenings, i will be attending! Also all the advertising boards are very clear and perfessional. I would recommend this pub to everyone, couples, familys, riends, business and other functions!

“Great Party”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

We attended the first "Friends of Stalbridge Library" party at the Stalbridge Arms. What a fantastic events.
The food was the best party food ever, imaginative and yummy! Not your usual sausage rolls and curly sandwiches. But slow roast pork belly nibbles, smoked salmon en crouton, delicious fritatta, turkey roulade with pancetta.... you get my drift.
Wine flowed & great beers too.
Saskia & the team looked after us superbly. Congratulations. Great to have a "real pub" back in Stalbridge.

“Superb Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

Just had to review this again because once more we enjoyed good fare and would not hesitate to recommend this to others. As well as the a la carte menu, we selected from the two roasts that were on offer - beef and pork. Portion size perfect filling, with homemade yorkshire puddings, a range of vegetables including carrots/swede, spring cabbage and cauliflower cheese accompanied with a delicious gravy sauce. The beef and pork crackling were cooked to perfection! The wait between courses just right and again a good selection of desserts. We enjoyed the cheese board, sticky toffee pudding and double chocolate tart with orange sorbet. All washed down with a reasonably priced Rioja. One of our party has a catering/restaurant background and was also impressed! We'll be back!

“Good Food and Service”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

A newly refurbished and re-opened local by the Piddle Brewery this is a welcome and welcoming pub, our reservation named on a plate a nice touch! We enjoyed good food sourced locally and individually cooked by the resident chef. Our host explained that alongside regular popular fare the menu options would be refreshed every few weeks. A carvery is offered on Sundays. We enjoyed crispy duck and a burger well presented followed by an amazing cheese board and chocolate brownie (delicious) with vanilla bean ice-cream on slate The atmosphere is warm and cosy with intimate lighting and comfortable sofa seating around the fire. We will definitely dine there again and hope our review will encourage others to do so.
