What an exiting tour. A must not to miss adventure of the history and workings of this
Museum and Mill, stunning views from all angles, very informative of what every part is. So much better to have the tour at no extra cost, great value, will visit again.

“Give yourselves a history trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

I have visited the town of Stur several times but never visited the local water mill. This has now been remedied much to my delight. We had a quite wonderful tour by Peter on a recent Sunday morning. I agree he has amazing knowledge of how the whole mill works and has worked over many centuries. I was fascinated that so much machinery was needed to produce the end product, bags of flour. Mind your head if you're tall as you are likely to bang it climbing up to the top of the mill!
You can combine your visit with beautiful local walks by the river and do buy a bag of flour. You may well be inspired to make some bread once home.

“Mill Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

Peter and John gave us a fantastic tour of the Sturminster Newton Mill even starting all the machinery and showing us all the different levels and how it worked. Peter is the grandson of the last full time miller at the mill and worked there as a lad. Such great first hand knowledge was fantastic. Now milling there own organic wholemeal flour which is for sale.

This is a very pretty mill that is about to start grinding its own flour again. Lovely setting and riverside walks.
