We were also PGL parents but stayed while the kids were at camp for 2 nights. Ate in the pub the first night.... Have to agree that the food wasn't anything special but then I think that is fairly standard with big chain pubs (Hall & Woodhouse). Reasonable value and portion size though. Pub was very busy as it was quiz night which unfortunately could be heard clearly from our room, but on the plus side, we weren't wanting an early night!! Decent night's sleep was followed by an ok breakfast. Second night's sleep was rudely disturbed at 0715 by someone hoovering and moving chairs around in the pub below.... so much for a lie in while the kids were away!!!
In all, a great place to stop after a walk along the cliffs and reasonable value accomodation.
Use the pub often when we are in the area and it's nearly always busy so advisable to prebook tables if the weather is looking to be good :) Oh, forgot to say that the staff were all really friendly and welcoming!

Room Tip: We were in 6 but I think downstairs noise would probably be heard from all rooms?? Check when bookin...

We stayed for one night after picking up our daughter from the nearby PGL camp. As a family of 4 we had to book 2 rooms to accommodate all of us and this worked out a little more expensive than we would have liked. However the rooms were fairly well decorated, clean and well equipped and we all had a good nights sleep. The restaurant was packed with customers which was very suprising as the food was not good at all. The kids meals were appallingly small and tasteless and the vegetarian options (I had a squash bake dish) were sloppy and lacking in any flavour. Service was efficient but not particularly warm. The pub is in a wonderful location though.

We love this place. We stay in the campsite up the road during the summer, and frequent here during our stay in Osmington. It is perfect for kids , they play on the banks outside the pub, whilst parents can keep an eye. The kids make loads of friends, the adults consequently relax. The staff are efficient and friendly, despite being extremely busy in the summer. The best bit is the location. Right on the beautiful coast path, near a lovely rocky beach.

We had a meal at this pub last weekend. It is in a super position close to the sea. The interior is old style wood with a lot of seating - clearly they are aiming at the food market more than local drinkers. The menu is standard Hall & Woodhouse - a reasonable selection - my starter of fish & crab cakes was very small although it wasn't expensive. Service was quite good from the mostly young staff.

A nice old fashioned pub, set on the coast overlooking Weymouth bay. Nice inside and the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Prices were very good as well, for both the food and the drink. Watch your head as you walk around though, as it is all quite low!

However, some of our dishes were a little average at best. We visited for Mother's Day and there were 6 of us (all adults) so we had a wide variety of dishes which were mainly OK but at least two of them had to be sent back for obvious issues; Dorset apple cake that had no apple in it; Avocado salad with no avocado?

Other than that, I would visit again (indeed this is our second trip) as the place and staff more than make up for the odd food glitch. Don't forget to keep your car park receipt, and pass to your server, as they refund it if you eat in the Inn.
