“Smart & modern; varied views”

This fifth floor flat has a clean, smart and modern feel. Pretty much everything you need is already there in the cupboards, the only problem was that we struggled to find out in advance from Blue Chip Holidays what to expect ( e.g. were things like sheets, towels and toilet paper provided?). In the end we had to phone the cleaning company the night before we arrived, and they just said "everything you need will be there".

Arrival and picking up a key was also very loosely controlled and nobody was interested in who arrived (or left) when. Also there was only one key provided between all of us - so we phoned the cleaner and she said the second key should be inside the flat, in a small box. Well the box had been removed and we never did get a second key.

There is an excellent balcony running outside the full length of the flat, and it includes a glass "pod" housing a table and 4 chairs". This is probably great in the summer but we never used it, partly because you couldn't see through the dirty glass and also because it rained quite a bit and the rainwater leaked through the wooden-floored balcony above.

The flat faces approximately north-west, so not a lot of sun during the day. The views are mixed. To the left is a great view across the causeway to the sea. In the middle you look over the top of a 2 storey derelict building, then past a short runway, hangar and helipad (we thought this might be for the coastguard), then over some cream coloured warehouses, to the mainland in the distance. The view to the right is across the harbour towards Weymouth in the distance.

Our only other comment is that there's no wardrobe or hanging space in the second bedroom. We managed without this, but some people might find it inconvenient.

“Will never book with Blue Chip again!”
Reviewed October 29, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Stayed at 105 Ocean View, Portland. We will never book a holiday with this company again. Their website did not accurately describe the property and we found it very misleading. The "special place" we stayed in was next to a derelict eyesore and the view from our balcony was another boarded up derelict building. Blue chip call this "building work" and say that "the area is under development." It was so awful that on arrival we didn't even want to get out of the car. They said we should have used the streetview feature on the map and not relied on the photographs etc. So beware!

No instructions were provided on how to find the apartment in amongst the 500 or so others.

The property was rated 4 Star Platinum. We always usually stay in 5 star properties and sometimes 4 star so know what to expect. We had to ask for the property to be cleaned again as it was not up to standard and request new pillows to replace the disgusting, stained ones in the apartment. Perhaps if they invested in pillow protectors it would help. There were 2 bedrooms. One had wardrobes ( half full already with an ironing board, high chair and airer) but no chest of drawers and the other had drawers but no wardrobe. I asked Blue Chip to provide their criteria for rating the property but they would not let me see it. They use their own system which is for their use and owners only - not holiday makers. Other companies use outside assessors which provide a much more reliable rating system. In my opinion this property is not 4 star platinum and not worth £735 for a week at the end of October.

Blue Chip offered us a goodwill gesture of £80 off another holiday with them! Hahaha! We wouldn't ever take another holiday with this lot if you gave it to us for nothing. It was stressful and disappointing. We need another holiday to recover.

“Rooms with a view!”
Reviewed October 28, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We were looking for either a coastal cottage with wood burner or scenic sea view apartment. We went with the latter and were not disappointed-fabulous views of Chesil beach and the coast stretching down to Devon, the marina and it's yachts, wind and kite surfers, the coastguard helicopter as well as Weymouth and surrounding areas. Wow! All fantastic whatever time of day.

The apartment was immaculately presented and provided everything we needed for our long weekend-fully equipped kitchen; electric hob and oven, separate fridge and freezer, dishwasher and a stunning view from both the internal and external dining areas. If you were tired of the view then you could relax in front of the tv or put on one of the many DVDs to choose from. Wifi worked really well.
Bedrooms were light and spacious, again with views outside. Master bedroom had en-suite and the second double room had a bathroom next door.
The added bonus with the apartment is the use of the indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Great facilities and had use of them all to ourselves each day.

Fionn, the on site manager was informative and contactable throughout the weekend.

We saw the sun rising over Portland having walked into the marina complex and saw it set from our balcony.

A great location. An excellent base to explore Portland, Weymouth, Chesil and West Dorset.
Thank you and we look forward to booking again.

“Christmas in Portland”
Reviewed April 25, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed for a week in 105 Ocean Views in Portland over Christmas. The apartment was very well equipped ( it is not easy cooking a turkey away from home) and with stunning views over the harbour. Everything in the apartment was as promised and there were many walks close by onto Chesil beach or around the coast. Weymouth is around 5 miles away with plenty of restaurants if needed. A car is needed but there was plenty of parking and many sites to see in Dorset. An excellent base for exploring.

“Superb apartment with breath taking views - Highly Recommend”

My boyfriend and I spent a week in this apartment, we had a fantastic chilled out holiday and the apartment has views to die for, waking up looking over the bay with views of Portland castle outside every window of the apartment and watching the sunset on an evening from the balcony is breath taking, the marina is a stone’s throw away with plenty of choice to eat and drink.
All the rooms are decorated to a very high standard and are a very good size; if you have children I wouldn’t be concerned as it is very child proof.
There is also an indoor pool in the complex which is very clean, warm and a good size
There is plenty to do, you can either stay on Portland and visit the lighthouse or maybe spend the day on Portland Bill beach (highly recommend) or a short drive into Weymouth where there is plenty to do.
I would highly recommend this apartment to my friends and family and will definitely be returning.
