This hotel is magnificently situated on the Isle of Potland with fanatastic views of Chesil beach and Weymouth. We enjoyed the setting, walks over the Island, food at dinner and breakfast and would recommend it to anybody for a romantic weekend.

have just returned from a weekend at the heights.we were a party of eighty! without excepton we all had a lovely time.the staff were very attentive and could not do enough for us.the rooms were very comfortable and the saturday night dinner/disco was excellent.breakfast and lunch was in the bistro which had the most amazing sea views.
yes the corridors were a little gloomy but how much time do you spend there and the view from our bedroom was grim.this hotel is in a perfect location for trips into weymouth and for scenic walks in the immediate area.so many thanks to all the staff for a very happy weekend.

We have found there is a real lack of anywhere good to stay in Weymouth and surrounding areas. We live in the Channel Islands so it's something we need to do from time to time for the ferry. This place used to be dire but someone told me it had been completely refurbished so we thought we'd try again. It is greatly improved though the horrible long corridors with their rough plaster still have a motel feel and the whol place has a youth hostel vibe. We paid for a superior twin room and it was large but had a view of an outbuilding (shame because the view can be great). They would have done well to employ an interior designer, our room was ruined by dark brown wood finish and dark brown wall paper which made it gloomy and there was a lack of light because they were too dim which made it dingy. The bathroom was very nice and it's a shame that style hadn't been used in the bedroom. Breakfast was fine in the canteen style refectory, again it made think college or halls of residence and everyone was helpful and friendly. It's not cheap for what it is and overall I was disappointed though we may try again on a higher floor!

we have been going to weyrmouth for years but we decided to stay hear for a 2 night break, after reading some of the reviews.
the rooms were clean , staff friendly and helpful. we had dinner in the restaurant and the choice was very good a lot of local ingredients which were exultant ,and whine.

I had the poached egg with smoked salmon both( local) very good, the mains were also to a very high standard . the deserts were out of this world being home made especially try the ice cream ", its best to book as it gets busy.

The view from the restaurant is breathtaking if you have a clear sunny day ,sadly we had a hazy day but never mind we may be back next year. A enjoyable stay ,I hope the chef stays to keep up the standard as this reflects on the hotels reputation.

Myself and my fiancee have just got back from spending a night in the Heights hotel.
Even though we only spent one night there i read the reviews on it and was expecting something really dim and old.

When we pulled up to the hotel which is right on top of the island, our first impressions of the outside were 'this doesnt look too bad'. When we went into the reception area to check in, i was very pleasantly surprised that the reception area is fairly modern and looks quite nice. Lots of space and comfortable seats to sit in.

The corridors are ok, a little gloomy as one review writer also commented on and the rooms are not too bad but are a bit old fashioned, beds are fairly hard too.
Before we went into weymouth for the evening, we went to the hotel bar for some drinks. The bar has a nice contemperary feel to it and had fantastic views across the island to chesle beach and weymouth (this looked abolutely jaw dropping at night with weymouth beach all lit up in the distance and all the lights from the houses of portland down below). In my opinion these views were some of the best i had ever seen (apart from the top of the acropolis in Lindos which is in the greek island of rhodes).

The hotel had a small outside pool but on closer inspection was a little grubby so we didnt go in.

All in all both myself and my fiancee had a pleasurable short stay at the Heights hotel

We booked at the last minute and thought it sounded okay for one night! I was amazed at how this hotel seems to have remained in an era gone by i.e. poor decoration, dim corridors and horrible bathrooms.
We booked a "family" room for the 4 of us (2 small children) and got what appeared to be, a normal room, with 1 camp bed and another single, all for the princely sum of £145! The bathroom smelt awful and was just about big enough to close the door behind you and the MDF fittings gave you something to ponder about.
Don't be lured by the temptation of the outdoor pool, it is postage stamp size and you feel like you are in a goldfish bowl i.e. everyone in the reception area sits and watches you.
The coffee lounge and restaurant reminded me of a works canteen in both decor and food and is vastly overpriced for what it is.
The staff in the bar and restaurant, except for one, were fine and cheerful but this couldn't make up for the faults of the hotel.
Admittedly, the wetaher was awful but from the attached photos, you will see that the views are not all great and certainly not from the room we had.
In summary, don't stay here, it's overpriced and in need of a total renovation.
