“Cream teas for three”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

We arrived at Portland Bill after a tour round bits of Dorset, just in time for tea. This is the only cafe here, but they not resting on that and are making an effort to do things well. Three cream teas arrived promptly. The scones were more of a cakey consistency, but were nevetheless delicious. the cream was local (we asked) and the tea was leaves, not bags (double plus points). You have to pay in the gift shop (thus meaning you have to look at the 'gifts'); nothing much there for me, but the cream teas were fine and the view is wonderful.

“Efficiently run”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Called here with Mrs just for a sandwich ordered at one of the four outside hatches so we could sit outside after a circular walk known as the Three lighthouse walk (about 3 miles). Tuna sandwiches arrived very quickly (it was quite busy) using a numbering system, and were of excellent quality.
Later we had some ice cream 99's . Highy recommended . Dinner later on was at the Crab House Cafe, just as you enter Portland 'Island' from Weymouth side.

“Great Setting”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

Just returned from a tour of Dorset were we stumbled across this wonderfully sited café. The views from this place just don't come better than this. We only had a light lunch and found the food to be more than acceptable. The service was excellent and all in all I would recommend it to anyone.

“Friendly Service, Great Views But Expensive Cooked Food”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

Went to The Lobster Pot for a late lunch/early dinner, 4.00pm. All the restaurants/pubs on Portland seem to serve food from 12 until 2.00pm then start again at 6.00pm so was very convenient that it was open all afternoon. Views were great and the service was very friendly and efficient, however the cooked food was just 'okay' and expensive, £13.95 for a prawn and salmon salad and £9 for spinach and ricotta cannelloni with french fries. However the cream teas looked lovely, reasonably priced and you could take them away, wouldn't go back for the cooked food but the scones looked worth a return visit.
