“Good views, but expensive drinks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

Went to the Heights for a business meeting. The view is excellent and the bar is equipped with WiFi, however the prices seem a bit steep, although I only had a drink. My cola came to £3.10 - my local further down the road is only £2.20.

“Homely Food but service could be more efficient”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

We stayed at The Heights hotel and ate twice at the Bistro. The views from the dining room are absolutely wonderful.

The food was consistently good and homely, not fine dining, but good nonetheless. Efforts to use local and seasonal produce is always appreciated.

Portions are absolutely enormous and the food isn't as reasonably priced as it could be (although it was by no means extortionate). I would have preferred smaller prices and portions, or at least the option to choose.

There was plenty of staff each time and everyone was utterly lovely and polite but two organisational problems stood out:
1. We did not book and given that the dining room was empty both times we ate there we did not think it would be a problem, but each time, we were told it was inconvenient and made to wait. This was just bizarre, especially since the restaurant did not fill up at all during our dinner.
2. in spite of being largely overstaffed (there was more staff than customers when we dined there), there is a lot of waiting around when we asked for the bill and waited to be seated (but the food was always prompt). A little more efficiency would help!

“Warm wine in dirty wine glasses”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2013

The Heights dine out on their location (hilltop view) - the bar indoor area was hot as an oven (no AC) so you had to go outside. Outside had limited amount of dirty tables (due to their fire escape route) and seating.
