“Wind and tide”

Stopped by for a moment after a business meeting in the area. Bracing windy walk to the pulpit with great views of the sea and lighthouse. Nice place to spend an hour or so. Pity that you always have to pay to park! Lighthouse shut until April .

“Invigorating!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

I love Portland - it's such a weird place, it feels as if you are driving into a military zone, and has two prisons.. one of which is well spooky!! Having said that - the views are spectacular and the constant wind on the coast is very invigorating! Portland Bill is well worth a visit for a bracing walk. Both times we have been though, the lighthouse and museum have been closed. Not a big problem, but that's why they didnt get 5 stars. There's a tea shop/cafe too - and theres nothing quite like a nice cuppa when you've been for a windy walk!! You can take your dog, the parking is reasonable - and it's quite flat so easy going. Well worth a visit.

“Great view and very windy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

This christmas, my family and went to portland bill and it was very nice. It was very windy and there were lots of rocks to climb on. Unfortunately the lighthouse was closed because it was not the season but it was a great view from the rocks. In the summer you can rent a cabin so you can stay there. Recommended for families with children.

“Visit and keep moving.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012

Travelled to Portland Bill from Weymouth to visit the headland viewed from the Nothe Fort area. Very surprised at the bleak journey along the headland to the lighthouse area. We were not able to visit the actual lighthouse as it was closed but the actual area was rugged with great views but little else. Once seen is enough.
