“Hidden in Gillingham's...”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

First visit to Gillingham's new restaurant hidden away off the Market Square in Gillingham Dorset. Sunday carvery, choice of beef, pork or chicken or a combination of meats. Good selection of help yourself vegetables: roast potatoes, cauliflower/broccoli/Romanesque, fennel, cabbage and carrots with a tasty gravy. All good quality produce, good value at £10 a head. Only criticism would be that the meat and gravy could have been hotter. Will try for an evening meal.

“Wow!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

What a surprise, hidden down South Street, behind an unassuming door, this is superb. You do have to know where you're going to find the old rugby club, which is now a superb grill/wine bar. We were spoilt for choice on the menu, and the Braida Montebruna 2010 was like drinking velvet. Proper steak tartare, and wonderful scallops. We could not fault it. Not surprising that it was quite busy on a weekday lunchtime. I can't wait to go again.

“At last: restaurant in Gillingham!”
Reviewed February 6, 2013 via mobile

Four of us ate here on Thursday evening following recommendations from a number of friends. Very friendly staff, good wines and fine food are the positives. Rather pricey mixed grill (£21), limited vegetarian option (1 dish) and a small selection of beers were disappointing. The service was just about right - no rushing and very professional and polite. I understand they do not have a license just to drink there - a shame as we lack any smart wine bars/restaurants in Gillingham. In summary, I would say you are bound to enjoy this more upmarket experience and I am interested to see how it and the menu develops. Fingers crossed for success!

“Just What Gillingham, Dorset needs!”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Recently opened, this is probably one of the best eating places in Gillingham, Dorset.
Its a stealth restaurant, not widely-advertised, difficult to find, no windows, minimal signage and the door looks firmly closed.
Inside is all modern and sparkly. At first sight it looks as if its going to be a wine bar; but the restaurant seats are arranged in a long row, cafeteria-style. Part of the kitchen is in the restaurant so you can check its cleanliness.
Food selection and quality is good, with a limited bar menu. Beer limited to expensive ice-cold Peroni.
Friendly helpful staff.
