“Delightful cottage in picturesque village”
Reviewed March 27, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We had a wonderful stay in this exceptional spot. The cottage was thoughtfully decorated - we especially loved the art on the walls. The village is storybook pretty and it was great to have such a nice pub just down the road. Highly recommended.

“Cosy characterful cottage with great views”
Reviewed March 18, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Cosy old cottage full of quirky character with a lovely garden and beautiful views. Great to get back to after a long hike over the hilly coast, hot bath then sit by the toasty log fire (we bought logs and kindling locally) The Rayburn kept the house at a constant comfortable warmth. Well equipped with everything thought of including bowls, bedding etc. for dogs. Excellent pub literally a stones throw serving fabulous food and ales...I had the Black Bream twice it was so good! The location of this cottage makes it a brilliant base for the amazing walks to be found in the area and would be nice to return in the summer months to make use of the garden and lovely views.

We had a fantastic time at The Old Reading Room. The cottage is spacious and homely. Its in a really great location with stunning views from the garden. Having an award-winning pub on our doorstep was a real bonus too!

“A charming cottage with fantastic garden view of Corfe Castle”
Reviewed February 17, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

A lovely old cottage, well equipped, with a great garden for dogs and kids. Once the mist had cleared We had breakfast outside looking at the wonderful long view to Corfe Castle. Not bad considering it was February. Great walks and an open fire. The only complaint I would have is that the old leather Chesterfield sofa was not the most comfortable for us. Having said that, our friends have one and love it. Some lovely walks nearby, a lovely break.

“Taking the dog to the beach”
Reviewed November 18, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We had a lovely time at The Old Reading Room for a stay with my parents and our dog. We wanted to take the dog to the seaside. This is a pretty cottage in a great location - rural Dorset - but is ideally located just a few miles outside Swanage and nearby beaches. There is a nice pub just over the road and just a short distance from many other attractions and nice places to eat. The cottage itself has quirky artwork, open fires and provides a great base. It was a comfortable and nice place to relax, unwind and spend time with family.

As a beautiful period cottage it is not so great if you are over 6 foot. My husband (who is 6'3") spent the weekend with his head on one side (to avoid beams and low ceilings) and using the shower for him was like a scene out of Elf!

The dog throughly enjoyed her run on the beach and the property had enough space to set up a dog crate without things being too crowded so all in all a good find and one we would recommend.

“Great location”
Reviewed October 28, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We had a lovely long weekend here, great walks from doorstep and beach very close so kids and dogs very happy! Only minor complaint was that we found the mattress uncomfortable.

On arrival we struggled to park and a neighbor gave us a rather dirty look when we parked on the grass by the bus stop but that was the only problem we had. Place was clean and lovely.
Amazing views, stunning location. Warm and cosy with beautiful bedrooms. My kids especially liked the toys and books that were there. Nice place!!!
