“Plenty of plus points at this cosy cottage !”
Reviewed December 4, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Views to die for and rustic charm by the bucket load ! A great place to stay with extended family and the location is ideal for walks in the Purbeck Hills direct from the cottage .. pet friendly too. We live in Dorchester which is not far from Kingston and the Scott Arms (some 100 yards from the cottage) is one of our favourite pub eateries . We were amazed by the number and quality of books available and were spoilt for choice .. no time for much reading but we did make a note of some of the many recent titles which we will order from our local public library. We loved the open log fire and there were plenty of logs left for our stay. The central heating is very effective and Emma (housekeeper) thoughtfully had the cottage nice and warm for our arrival .. no shortage of hot water either. Another big plus for us was the large kitchen diner with a table big enough for us all to sit around (apparently it will seat up to 14 with extension leaves in place) . There are some not so good aspects .. The booking arrangements were a bit chaotic (sorry Josephine) .. Only one loo in the house for "number twos" due to the restrictions of the quirky electric loo and shower in the upstairs ensuite , the fridge freezer was on the small side for our party of 9 as was the microwave. Hope I'm not being too "picky" because we would certainly recommend this cottage to a friend .....

Magnificent views from house and garden over Corfe castle and on to Kimmeridge Bay, The Scott Arms was an easy walk away with good food, views, quick service and fine for small children. The property was marginally let down by a poor en suite to the main bedroom but otherwise exceeded expectations

“perfect for a family gathering”

This cottage is in a lovely situation with a stunning outlook from the rear garden.
Everything worked efficiently & it was perfect for our needs for a large family gathering.
There is a pub a few doors away where we had a nice lunch in the garden with the same lovely views as the cottage garden.
The nearest shops are in Corfe Castle a short car ride away.
The kitchen is perfect for entertaining having a large table in a spacious kitchen area.
The living room had a very inviting open fire which we didn't need to use but it was a very nice option to have had the weather been colder - all set up with logs, firelighters etc.
Wifi was great too & there were masses of books everywhere which was very nice as well.

Liked best: being in a quiet pretty village - & being reasonably comfortable
Liked least: the mattresses on the twin beds were good quality but too big for the bases - making that a slight problem to sleep

“Very pleasant. Lovely views”

It is a lovely cottage, well equipped with cooking utensils for lots of people. We stayed during a heatwave, and found the lack of shade in both the garden and the kitchen (blinds sorely needed in the far end of the kitchen) a bit wearing. But the location and the cottage were otherwise splendid. A very good slide and swing set was a huge success with the children.
