“Super B & B. Just lovely.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

Recently back home from a super 4-day b & b stay at Bay Tree House.
Our hosts Sally and Jerry couldn't have done more for us; delicious breakfasts with lots of choice; extremely comfortable beds with lovely sheets and bedding, helpful advice about what to see and how to get there, where to eat locally, and many other personal touches which made us feel welcome.
The location by the A35, in pretty Chideock, is convenient for many places of interest, east and west, and whilst we were aware of traffic noise on our first night, the warm cosy beds soon put paid to this.
This is just a great place to stay and we definitely want to come back.

Had a cream tea here. Sat in the delightful garden but the drawback to that was the traffic noise from the busy A35. The car park is small and if some kind person hadn't offered to move his car for me I would have strggled to exit it. Nevertheless the cream tea was superb, and at the end of the day that is what we visited the cafe for

Fantastic hosts, fabulous room, superb breakfast and afternoon cream tea. Great homely atmosphere, quintessentially English. From the moment we walked in we felt like we were at home. Nothing was too much trouble and the cherry on the cake was hot milk in the flask left for us every night. We will definatelly return.

This was our second visit and everything was just as we remembered. Cannot recommend it too highly and our hosts could not have been more thoughtful. A wonderful cream tea welcome and great pubs a short walk away, what could be better!

Visited Saturday 3 August 2013
As a family we had been in the area for around 7 days and my efforts to find a cream tea had, thus far, been thwarted. Usually by me eating too much at lunch and therefore not really needing a cream tea a couple of hours later...
We were on our way out of the camp site at Golden Cap, Seaton and, having seen this place on the corner of the main road managed to find a parking place (can be at a premium at peak times).
We positioned ourselves in the garden (at the table in the picture actually, A really lovely spot)
My wife enquired about gluten free cakes and was offered a gluten free scone. My son had scones, butter and strawberry jam and I (of course) had the full blown cream tea. The home made scones had to be amongst the best, if not the best, I had ever eaten. Plenty of cream and home made strawberry conserve along with (and I know this sounds daft) a perfect pot of English Breakfast tea completed the 'tea'. I'm sure you will agree, there are plenty of 'Tea shops' offering English Breakfast tea but for some reason, the tea a the Bay Tree House was far and away superior to these other offerings. Furthermore, there was plenty of it.
I can firmly endorse other comments on here praising the quality of the cream tea and the friendliness of the staff.
Please visit and ensure this place continues into the future.

A very welcome cream tea greeted us as we arrived after our long journey to Chideock. The tea, homemade scones, jam and cream were delicious! We had lovely rooms with fantastic views over the beautiful countryside. Jerry and Sally were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. We packed a lot into our two night stay - the beach, swimming in the sea, great food at the Anchor pub and most importantly, attending a wedding in Symondsbury. It was over all too quickly but we shall definitely return!

Nothing says a good start to a holiday like a homemade Victoria sponge, cream tea and a pot of tea (from a huge selection of teas- they even had redbush!), as you wait for your room. My wife and I stayed for three days and it was brilliant! Jerry and Sally are the perfect hosts with plenty of good restaurant and day out suggestions. We will definitely be back to the lovely Tea Garden to try the homemade ice cream next time! Would highly recommend to all our friends and family. Room was lovely and clean and bed and pillows super comfy, exactly what we needed for a relaxing break.
