“Lovely cosy cottage and great location”
Reviewed April 26, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Already when we arrived at the cottage my husband and I were pleasantly surprised - the cottage is set into a lovely little courtyard-type garden. Obviously some care has been taken in carefully landscaping the garden, with seating areas dispersed throughout, so that one is always likely to catch some sun on a sunny day. When we entered the cottage, we were immediately struck by the cosiness of the living room - it just oozes charm. The kitchen was everything a kitchen should be and there was a lovely surprise welcome tray on which stood a yummy loaf of white bread, butter and a lemon drizzle cake! Tea and milk were also at hand. This was most welcome after a longish drive and we sat down immediately to sample the totally delicious cake and tea. And the Chideock location is great - one can walk down to Seatown to the beach in about 10-15 minutes, which has a good pub, the Anchor, where one can admire the setting sun (although it was a bit too nippy for us to sit outside in April). Chideock itself also has a pub within 10 minutes' walk, the George. Until Easter this year, there was also another pub pretty much opposite the B&B to which this cottage is attached. However, the poor Clockhouse Inn burned down, just leaving a shell, and if it is built up from scratch again, it will take at least a year, I should think. But as the other two pubs are within walking distance, the lack of this one was not a problem at all. Also a short drive away were Bridport, Charmouth, Lyme Regis and Hive Beach (part of the scenery of TV crime drama "Broadchurch"), where the sandstone cliffs were absolutely stunning! And as we were blessed with lovely sunny warm spring weather, our holiday was pretty much perfect in every way! On the one grey day we had, we joined the guided tour at Palmers' Brewery in Bridport. Perfect!

“Really Pretty and Great Location”

Stayed during a very windy week but had a lovely time. Chiddy Nook was very cosy but spacious. Very easy to park. As mentioned in another review, it is an old cottage and there are beams, they are quite obvious but just have to be a little careful. Very comfortable furniture, and the bed and duvet were great. Jane and Laurie are perfect hosts, not at all intrusive but really helpful and kind, (even returning my clothes which I left behind in a drawer). Chiddy Nook's garden (even in March) was delightful and private. Lots of good garden lighting if you return in the dark. Really appreciated the wonderful food which greeted us on our arrival. We will certainly return.

“Gorgeous Cottage next to a Great Pub”
Reviewed March 14, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Came to Dorset for a 'Cheeky Week' to distress and let the dog have her annual holiday in the South West walking the trail.
My wife and dog had never been to Dorset before so where else better to stay than 'Chiddy Nook.'
Weather was great, location good...the Clockhouse pub across the road is too handy...hic.
First night I thought it was thundering but realised it was the A35 approximately 200 yards away from the cottage. The noise is noticeable upstairs but strangely not downstairs. Its an arterial route so busy night and day.
This gorgeous little cottage reminded me why I never joined the Submarine Service..or was a coal miner...or a pot holer...my wife is only 5'1" but was pleased that she bumped her head more than me! and I am 6'2". You need to remember to 'duck' occasionally but it all adds to its very quintessential charm and loveliness :-)
Jane is another reason to stay here...the dog forgot to pack her vetbed so Jane promptly sent it up North for her. Many Thanks Jane...Your a Star
