We stayed here camping as a family of 4, children aged 9 and 12. First time here and the setting is perfect, the facilities are very clean ie showers and toilets. The location is perfect 5 min bike ride to beach and village in 5mins by car. The staff are very helpful my daughter got lost and found her way to reception they emailed me to say they had got her. We will definitely be returning here very soon.

Arrived at the holiday park after a long 5 hour journey. Check in was quick and fuss free and our lodge was ready even though we checked in an hour earlier than the stated check in time. We stayed in a dorset sapphire lodge number 7 and it was lovely. Very spacious, clean and well presented. Lovely place, some nice facilities especially if you have children. Lovely ( clean!) indoor play area downstairs and a nice pool upstairs. Even have an outdoor pool but wasn't open whilst we were there. More for the summer season! Good location, about a 40 min drive to Weymouth. Would recommend this park especially for families. A lovely place to stay!

Just returned from a short break (mon to fri) at Newlands, we had a lodge which I must say was excellent value, lodge was very clean with all the self catering facilities you would expect, but to have what you expect is great, as you don't always get what you expect.

The park had very good facilities, we really enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and at £10 for 10 sessions we thought good value for money, however we have had free use of indoor pools on other parks we have visited, so maybe they need to think about that, there was only two of us but if you had a large family it could have been expensive.

Nice bar area, and I must say the San Miguel beer was lovely, prices as expected for a site like this, we didn't eat in the restaurant but the food looked ok, but prices slightly higher than we would have expected, especially when most people have self catering facilities, if they dropped their prices then more people might be tempted to eat there.

The park was a short walk to the nice little village of Charmouth, which has a couple of pubs, local shops etc. and a lovely beach area, with lovely walks in the area.

All in all a nice place to stay, and will probably return in the future.

Just returned from three night break in a caravan at this camp site. Caravan immaculate, plenty of room, well equipped and very clean. Staff on reception /bar were very friendly and helpful as was maintenance man who arrived five mins after reporting a problem with the fire. The children's indoor play area was brilliant my grandsons had a whale of a time in there as they did in the pool(which was like a bath). Food was good and reasonably priced. Entertainment was very limited but what there was was good expect it was due to how quite the site was. Ideally placed for West Bay where we ate at The George on the harbour food and staff brilliant made to feel very welcome. The walk into villiage took about 10 mins ,15 mins to beach. Pubs in village there are two I think, we ate at The Royal Oak food and service great , The George nice pub and beer garden ideal for kids pity about the landlord off hand and couldn't be bothered at all. The only other place we tried was the harbour inn at Lyme Regis beautiful setting right on the beach pity about staff very off hand seems like because of where they are situated they will always be busy so y bother being pleasant, hope they get paid well because wouldn't live off tips

We visited this weekend as a sun break (7th March) with our 2 year old. On arrival we were told we had one of the caravans, lucky us! It was of a really high standard. Staff were helpful and polite- in reception/shop/ restaurant/bar. Caravan was lovely. Pool was great. Soft play was clean and really pleased our little one. Food was good. We had a fantastic weekend. Thank you again.

Reviewed March 7, 2014

We booked to stay at Newlands for 3 nights in March 2014.
We actually stayed for...None!
Upon arrival we were allocated an 'apartment' which upon entering resembled a warden controlled block of bedsits for the elderly. The smell of damp in the corridor was very apparent, as was the fresh paint they had used to cover it all up!
The actual room was dark and dingy, with no view whatsoever - The actual apartment block is situated next to the recycling and rubbish points,
We have an 11 week old baby, and were so looking forward to this, our first family break.
We have done a fair few breaks of this type, and were looking forward to staying in a caravan, higher up on the site (with good views as per the brochure)
So when i went to reception and asked if any caravans were free the answer was yes. Could we move to one - No! (unless we paid £25 for an upgrade!)
As this was already a budget break, paying anything extra was out of the question.
I understand parties can pay extra to specify which type of accommodation they are placed in, but it was the standard of customer care that really shocked.

Prior to arrival my partner had 2 phone calls with the park, both of which were met with rude, inept and frankly terrible attitudes from the parks receptionists.
When i brought this up in person, the response was 'It wasn't me, i have only been here 2 weeks!' - Basically sweeping the issue under the carpet, so rather than deal with the clearly incapable 'newbie' i took my conversation to the manager
'Jackie' started the conversation by arguing with me (not the best of starts or ideas!)
And assured me that the Service we had received was not the norm (I beg to differ having read some of the reviews on here!)
As another review mentions, they are fantastic when they are taking your money - Once they have it however, its a different story
My advice - Keep driving past the front gate, we passed several other holiday parks in the very near area!

Room Tip: Do not get allocated to an apartment!
