“Convenient and Comfortable”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We stayed at The Gables in September for two nights. The period character of the property has been retained by Frances who made us most welcome with tea and cake on the terrace. Most welcome after a lengthy journey. Our room was large, clean and comfortable, lacking only a television - we had to watch the news on iPlayer on the mobile phone, but there is a WiFi connection available. If you have a tablet or laptop, take it! The property is close enough to the town to allow you to leave the car at The Gables and walk - well worth a visit. Frances and Rhia prepared and served very tasty and filling breakfasts - always makes for a good start to the day and it is a real treat when we are staying away from home. Our best wishes to Frances for the future.

Stayed here for 2 nights in July. Frances and family were very welcoming. Our room was a very good size and there was plenty of room for the 3 of us. The beds were extremely comfortable and rooms were very clean. The breakfasts were excellent, with a very good choice of food. It is well situated and our room had a lovely view to the sea. The house has plenty of character and is set in its own grounds, so parking is not a problem. Would stay here again next time we are in the area.

Lovely Bed and Breakfast accommodation . Our room (number 3) was very spacious and light with gorgeous views over the hills .
Very large bathroom , luxurious towels and fab complementary toiletries .
Very comfortable beds and bedding .
Only a 10 minute walk into Bridport town so you could leave the car behind when you went out for dinner..
We were in Bridport for a family funeral and Frances very kindly let us stay a little later than the usual check out time which was great - many thanks for that .
Wishing Frances and Rhia every success as the new owners of The Gables .

We were in bridport for a funeral, and had to stay for 1 night. The accommodation was lovely, beds very comfy, lovely bedding. Francessnd family very accommodating. The B and B is minutes away from the high street, so easy to walk to all of the restuarants. Wetherspoons was lovely and very reasonable prices. Never eaten in one before, but because we wanted to meet up with family it was perfect.. If you are looking for somewhere quiet, this is the place for you. Thanks Francesand good luck with you

Stayed here as we were attending a wedding close by. Have a feeling the reviews will continue to be faultless for the new owners. They were welcoming, helpful and cook cracking scrambled eggs! The rooms are lovely and it feels like it has all the character and charm of a B and B with the privacy you would expect from a larger hotel.

I would book again in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone.

Great wallpaper in the bathroom too!

We needed a place to stay for Christmas whilst visiting our son and family. From the prompt reply to our email to our departure,we were very impressed by the little touches that Wendy and Don have implemented in their wonderful Edwardian home. Everywhere was clean and sparkling
The breakfasts took advantage of the local food in this part of Dorset and were well presented and delicious .Thank you Wendy and Don.

We rolled up here after a tired and stressful unplanned stop of in lovely Bridport. We struck lucky. Wendy couldn't have been more helpful. The place has been timewarped from the Edwardian era. Not to our taste, so we thought, but then we just fell in love with it. The attention to detail in the decor is matched by the impeccable service. Free chocolates secreted in our room, the BEST breakfast I've EVER had in a b and b, combined with unobtrusive, but flawless service made a hastily booked one night stay an unexpectedly magical experience. An absolute bargain and I highly recommend a stay here if you are heading to Dorset.

Room Tip: We were in Room One. It's a smaller room, but has a great dual aspect view over the gardens and...
