“Relaxed Lunch”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Had a lovely lunch at Soulshine today, fresh salads, wonderful drinks, nice helpful staff and a great atmosphere. Colour and texture everywhere, one of the happiest places we have visited in a long time, we'll be back.

“Totally turmeric, yum!”
Reviewed July 6, 2014 via mobile

I arrived on Sunday morning and wanted a decent cup of coffee and something a bit different, this certainly fitted the bill...fresh smoothies and I chose Totally Turmeric...the colour and the turmeric taste were full on, but the mix of coconut milk, mango, coconut oil, turmeric, ginger, macca and apple juice was delicious! There were plenty of other tasty home made treats including more traditional food and after an hour sitting outside in the garden at a long trestle table, I gave in to a cappucino with a slice of rhubarb and custard cake. The only slight hiccup was having the owner (?) taking photos of her children for postcards, which I didn't at first mind as she asked if they could share the table...however, she left the (well behaved) children there and a I chatted with them but rather overwhelmed the space when she returned 10+ minutes later so I moved to the front of the shop and some quieter space. All those who served me were open, friendly and helpful...9.5/10 :D

“The shine was taken out of the soul”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

My daughter and I decided to try out Bridport's new cafe today and we were impressed by the funky decor and warm welcome as we walked in. We were warned, as we ordered our menu, that there would be a long wait but I said we didn't mind as I could see they were busy. Define a long wait though....is 45 minutes for a bacon butty exceptable? As we waited, we noticed a lot of staff, perhaps disproportional to the amount of tables, but an awful lot of customers without a meal in front of them. Lovely, fresh food but they really need to sort out a system that works and perhaps reduce the enormous menu. I shan't come back for a Saturday lunch here again.

We are so happy you enjoyed the ambience and friendliness of our cafe, but you are right, a wait as long as you put up with is unacceptable. We have on occasion found it difficult to get orders out in good time during busy periods and are now addressing this issue by - as you correctly spotted - looking at our menu! We would love to see you again at Soulshine so please contact us at cafesoulshine@gmail.com to see how we can make it up to you.

“Don't Walk Past - Venture Inside the Tardis!”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

We were about to drive back to The Midlands, and thought we'd catch something to eat/drink before setting off.

Having parked in South Street we strolled up looking for somewhere nice and initially walked past the Soulshine Cafe as from a casual glance through the front window it appeared to be primarily a takeaway style operation. We tried other cafes/pubs (none really appealed) and found ourselves being drawn to venture inside Soulshine.

And thank goodness we did!

The initial welcome from the "front shop" staff was warm and we were invited to walk through past the open kitchen, where we discovered a tardis like rear dining area and courtyard.

The choice of savoury dishes was great, and the cakes were even better, though these were topped by the fantastic coffee they served.

The cafe has a great feel - very relaxed, but clearly taking the subject of quality food and drink very seriously.

Brilliant play area for kids.

We'll definitely be back.

“Right up our street....”
Reviewed June 28, 2014

Overall very pleased we visited... And will definitely will be returning. Most importantly as we thoroughly enjoy finding cafés beyond the "norm"....
Firstly you are greeted to a front of house juice bar by very friendly happy staff, with a selection of local fresh cakes, to then walk around the corner to suddenly be next to a bustling open kitchen & a lovely size eating area. Very rustic, hippy, natural feel....
A huge selection of foods to choose from, ranging from a fried breakfast, sandwiches, vegetarian curries to Canadian pancakes... Understandable prices due to freshness & originality of them all.
Good home cooking, with a definite rustic edge.
I love the mix of healthy food & drinks served, to fry ups & cakes.
Something for absolutely everyone.
Staff all very friendly & laid back.
A lovely outside courtyard seating area with view of their working herb garden.
Perfect for a chilled out coffee or meal alone or with friends.
Suits people who enjoy the finer yet simpler laid back way of life.
