“Excellent Stay”

We spend 2 nights here in May for our son & daughter in laws wedding. What a wonderful time we all had. The staff were so helpful and went out of their way to make sure that everything went off smoothly.I am sure that we all enjoyed our stay and the wonderful wedding reception. We had a very comfortable room off the courtyard.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The bed was very comfy and the room spacious. The staff were very friendly & helpful with recommendations of walks & maps to borrow. We ordered a picnic which was fantastic value if not a little large & heavy for the walk we'd planned!! The restaurant was also good. We'd definitely stay there again.

First of all Bridport is a great little town full of character and charm. And the Bull is at the heart of it. Good off street parking, hotel had charming service, quirky historical features and really excellent cooking for kids and adults alike. We'd been in Padstow earlier in the week and it was better than Stein's bistro. But it's a working hotel with a busy couple of bars so it was a later night than we would have liked. But definitely to be recommended especially mid week and not in high season.

Individual stylish rooms have not taken away the charm of this 17thC Coaching Inn. Very good restaurant and breakfast. Lovely extra bars in the stable and upstairs the hidden cocktail bar.
Bridport has interesting links to it's heyday as a port. Ropemaking history (they used to make all the hangman's nooses) and the charming little port of West Bay nearby with it's extraordinary sandstone cliffs. the town has more than the usual number of eateries but the Bull is one of the best.
Staff are very helpful. I will definitely visit again. Only niggle was the tiny car park with no signs as to how to find it.

Room Tip: Can be a bit noisy at the front as it is on the main high street.

Spent 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend and couldn't fault the service of any of the staff. All very polite and nothing was to much trouble. The choices for breakfast was endless and plentiful and of a very high quality local produce. Food in the evening was also great. Wish we had eaten in the evening more during our stay.
we stayed in room 104 which was described as their romantic double which is was. A minor point, it would have been nice to have more comfy seating in the room near the window (for light). Roll top bath in room very romantic. Cocktail bar is ideal for a pre or post dinner drink.

Just got back from four nights there, with husband and children. Our second stay, but the last was several years ago.

The Bull is utterly charming. Quirky furniture and fittings are comfortable rather than luxurious, and are well suited to the old building, where the wear and tear of 300 years has been allowed to leave its mark and adds to the character.

Venner Bar, complete with the lovely enthusiastic barman Lloyd was a wonderful spot for a pre-dinner cocktail while our children played in the playroom directly below. His cocktails are the best I have had for years.

The kitchen turned out really outstanding food, from great specials featuring fresh local seafood to a perfectly executed cote de boeuf. Breakfasts were outstanding, and enormous. The family friendly Stables restaurant at the back of the hotel was simple and did what it did well, but was not as welcoming and comfortable as the main hotel.

Staff here are outstanding. All were attentive, friendly and very service oriented. We had a problem with our room and they did everything possible to sort it out without any inconvenience to us, and treated us to free drinks and a discount on our bill.

Room Tip: We were in the Flowers Suite - loads of space for a family and a very attractive set of rooms but be...

What a great hotel and restaurant - i travelled down from a well known 5 star resort having played golf to Bridport to meet my wife and in -laws and what a contrast the Bull was . Great staff , excellent rooms and food that beat the socks off my previous 5 star venue.

A definite must for a relaxing weekend away

Room Tip: The Red room was very sumptuous
