“Wonderful Cosy Homely Hotel”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

My husband and I have just spent a wonderful night at the Bull Hotel in Bridport. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the beds were amazingly comfortable with gorgeous sheets. The staff were exceptional nice and fun. Nothing was too much to ask. The food was delicious and we were made to feel incredibly at home and welcome. What more can one ask for???? Bliss. Cant wait to go back.

Me and my fiancé stayed here late January for his 30th birthday.we stayed in the deluxe room "the Nandi" and I would recommend it to everyone! The room was beautiful and uniquely decorated. The complimentary toiletries were amazing and having a bath in the bedroom is always a bonus! We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious and of great quality and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The venner bar in the hotel is a lovely cocktail bar. The barman was knowledgable and friendly and didn't mind making a cocktail off the menu for my fiancé. The breakfast that was included was brilliant and all made from local produce which is always nice. Overall would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely be returning for a longer stay!!!

Room Tip: Pick the Nandi room if you want a bit of romance!

We arrived quite late and were shown to our room 206 ( The Fushia Flock) which was stunning.

The staff are so friendly and willing to help you out wherever possible.

Breakfast was delicious and there is even complimentary prosecco for a breakfast Buck's Fizz !

A meal in the restaurant was a real treat and great value for money, the best chunky chips ever!!! The waitress and host were brilliant!

Cocktails in the secret bar to the back of the ball room were amazing , such a lovely place to relax.

The room with roll top bath was great, and there are doors which open up so you can bathe in private or infant of whoever you are with. I have to say that the bed was probably one of the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in! The complimentary Neals Yard products were a treat and made he room smell amazing. Only downside (very minute) was that the door to the room blew a bit in the wind or when someone opened another corridor door but didn't really spoil the trip.

We booked this as part of a romantic getaway trip through Mr and Mrs Smith and it was absolutely fantastic. Would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: 206 , The Fushia Flock room is amazing.

We stayed here as part of a family event, therefore we didn't choose the hotel or the room.

The room furniture could only be described as junk, though there was a helpful pamphlet included with the room that explained the history of said junk and where they found it.

The floors creaked, the carpet was dirty, stained and patchy. The towels were crispy and hard. The shower head was hanging off the wall so you had to hug the wall to get a shower...washing my hair took a half hour. The controls for the shower kept falling off which the cleaner helpfully replaced each day. There was also black mould on the ceiling and half filled toiletry bottles with a polite note asking you not to steal them.

The hotel's location on a main road, with original single pane windows, make it a great place if you want to hear everything going on in the street, including the 5am set up of the Saturday street market. The windows which have to be left open as there is no air conditioning have the added feature of falling out of their frame and hitting you on the head when you try to open them.

And then there is the pizza dungeon, expensive and very very average. Absolutely punching above their weight, overpriced and half assed.

We evidently aren't 'boutique' mugs if this is supposed to be good enough to be in Mr and Mrs Smith.

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms looked nicer but there was a report that the kettle in the best room had to...

We stayed here for 2 nights during July which clashed with the floods! Ate in the restaurant which was of a good quality.
We booked our room direct approx 6 weeks earlier and the rate was £180 B&B/ night. We were able to choose the room so I had high expectations. We had a flamingo room on the top floor. The facilities in the room were lacking. The wardrobe was tiny with a few hangers and two tiny drawered bedside tables that were too small to put a tshirt in! There needed to be bigger drawers instead of the large coffee table! The bathroom was large with a few Neals Yard products but no body lotion which I didn't bring with me thinking they would be supplied at this room rate!
The bar upstairs was lovely with very friendly and accommodating bar men!
In summary a well presented hotel but a bit overpriced and perhaps some more thought on function in our room with furniture!

We have been travelling to Bridport for over 30 years, and we have stayed in many of the small hotels in the area. None is outstanding. A few years ago the Bull Hotel was taken over by new owners, and it has been transformed. A historic coaching inn, dating from the 16th century, it is now the most luxurious hotel in the immediate region (and probably the most expensive). We stayed in the Nandi room (110) which is one of the largest; beautifully appointed, with slipper bath in bedroom (eccentric, for sure) plus modern shower room. Really comfortable. We appreciated the kindness of the staff, which was exceptional. Everyone, from the booking onwards, went out of their way to be helpful. We were not troubled by noise. Situated right in the centre of this market town, we found the Bull to be the perfect location for exploring the Jurassic coast. Don't hesitate. This is an excellent choice for a night or a week.

Room Tip: The rooms are spread out over a wide area and several floors; ask for advice if you want a quieter r...

We have had a really good stay. The rooms are stylish and beautiful with a little quirkiness, which is great. Staff have all been really helpful. Some ambient noise from bar/restaurant but didn't go on too late. Breakfast excellent. All locally sourced. Evening meal was good but other local restaurants equally good.
