Tucked away on a farm in beautiful rural Dorset, Barn Cottage was just perfect for our "week away from it all". Navigating the narrow country lanes to find it was quite an experience, but the owners Richard and Jenny had provided us with good directions and they were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The cottage was just lovely, very well equipped and really comfortable with a tray of tea and biscuits waiting for us on arrival and other thoughtful touches to make us feel at home. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside perfect for walking and is a great location for exploring the local area, Bridport being about 5 miles away with its bustling town and lovely beaches of West Bay and Burton Bradstock. If you want to eat out locally, there is a pub within a few minutes drive where the food was good and reasonable, best to book though as it gets busy. We soon got used to driving the narrow lanes, you just need to be patient and careful. We had a fantastic week there and would recommend Barn Cottage unreservedly.

I booked Barn Cottage at the last minute for a week's stay to enjoy the last of the sunshine of September.Exchanging e-mails with Jenny and Richard ( the owners ) prior to the holiday reassured me that they were a caring couple and any questions were answered in a polite and timely manner. They sent us full directions together with a sat-nav postcode that was very accurate.
On arrival and after introductions we settled into the barn and lit the wood burning stove that had been kindly prepared for us. The cottage has everything that you would need and has a well fitted kitchen.Car parking is about 30 yards away and for unloading you can use their driveway which is closer.Nothing was too much trouble for Richard and Jenny and they outlined good local pubs to eat at and suggested places to visit.
Bridport is only aout 4 miles away and Dorchester,Weymouth,Yeovile etc are easy drives.
The location of the farm and cottage is remote ( to us townies ) and the narrow local lanes take a while to master but the remoteness is its attraction. If you really like walking there is no need to drive at all once you are there as you have the freedom of their farmland etc.
My wife said that she had one of the best holidays of her life here and that sums it all up as she is a confirmed shopperholic etc.Relax and enjoy as the setting is idilic. One tip is if you want mobile phone reception walk 20 yards inclined up in front of the property and mobile phone reception magically appears. If you get stuck Jenny and Richard will let you use their landline .Wifi is strong, reasonably fast and available in the cottage.

Everything the discerning holidaymaker needs for a comfortable, relaxing, and restful stay.
A traditional, unpretentious cottage with all the necessities of home. Set in idyllic, peaceful, and tranquil surroundings, in what has to be one of England's finest counties. All coming together to produce the best atmosphere and ambience to enjoy the perfect "away from it all" vacation.
If you are one who cannot live without your mobile phone 24 hours a day, then you're not going to get the best of what this cottage has to offer. But what are holidays for if not to escape the stresses of day-to-day life at home?
The hospitality of our lovely hosts, Jenny and Richard, was delightful. We found them to be very kind, considerate and thoughtful. There if needed - but will happily leave you undisturbed to enjoy everything you desire from your holiday.
The area has a great deal to offer the lover of creation; from the splendour of the rural countryside and forest, to the wide variety of bird and animal life inhabiting it. All of which can be enjoyed from the pleasurable retreat of the cottage's private garden, or within the shortest of walks from the doorstep - not to mention the coast which is literally minutes away.
If we have one disappointment to report it is only that we didn't book for a longer stay.
We shall be returning!

This is the place if you want a warm out of the way place with all the comforts of home together with all the comforts of being away from it all. Even your mobile phone won't keep you awake.
We stayed at Barn Cottage with our 2 year old and Jack Russell dog - had a lovely week, no phone reception suited us down to the ground - we actually got to forget about everything for a week and concentrate on proper family time.
We loved the walks out the back door across the fields, feeding the sheep, log fires, comfy beds and the cosy living room. The owners were lovely people. Hope to visit again one day.
Pecorama was a big hit with my son who hasn't stopped talking about the choo choo trains, so we can definitely recommend that.
