“A wonderful, peaceful place for a super holiday”

We wanted a large holiday house to accommodate 3 generations, and Bilshay was perfect with plenty of space for everyone, upstairs and down. It has two ensuite bathrooms and well distributed bedrooms, so we all had our privacy when we wanted it. But there were lots of opportunities to do things together - table tennis, pool table, hot tub, and a wonderful farmhouse dining table on which to play games.
Big comfy sofas in the sitting room were much appreciated after a day's fossil hunting on the beach - we were enthused by the chap who led a guided walk and told us what to look for. We found him in the helpful box of tourist leaflets provided next to the useful landline phone - a generous touch.
The house was superbly equipped and comfortably furnished, perfect for family living. We didn't really want to go out much, it was so nice sitting on the terrace or in the hot tub admiring the view. However the seaside beckoned since it was so close, and Lyme Regis was a must. We shall have to return to explore the cliff top walks and all the other energetic activities we might have done if we hadn't had such lovely weather.

“The perfect holiday retreat”
Reviewed August 2, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

When we booked our June/July holiday last February Bilshay Farmhouse was still undergoing major renovation work, but because we liked the look of the property we took the decision to go ahead and take a chance that the finished product may not live up to our expectations. When photographs of the completed works appeared on Symondsbury Estates website we were absolutely delighted and very excited about our stay at Bilshay.
The property offered luxurious accommodation and more than enough space for three generations of our family, ages ranging from 7 months to 60 years. The welcome hamper of local goodies was very gratefully received and enjoyed. The facilities in the house and grounds were second to none. The younger members of the family especially enjoyed the trampoline, while we all luxuriated in the hot tub. The garden, which is planted with numerous young fruit trees and climbing plants,
had ample space for outdoor games such as kite flying and boomerang throwing! The only thing we found lacking in the kitchen was a toast rack. There was more than enough crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment and every white good you could wish for.
The nearest town is Bridport which is a lively market town with lots of takewaway food outlets, supermarkets an lovely independent shops.
The property is a short drive away from all the larger seaside resorts but a stones throw from some of the less well known Jurassic Coast beaches, all worth a visit.
