“Gorgeous little shack”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

I dropped in here on my first visit to Bridport. It's a lovely arty, crafty, bustling little place. I had dhal which was hearty and fresh, followed by orange polenta cake - yum! The staff are continuously cooking in the open kitchen. The cafe uses seasonal and all local produce (listing exactly where all their ingredients come from) which is impressive. The decore is mismatched, with a vintage/ earthy/ organic look and is just cosy and gorgeous. It's quite small, so it would be hard to get a seat on busy days. Loved it. Will definitely be back again!

This cafe/restaurant is well off the beaten track but worth a visit. Good value home cooked vegetarian food on offer at VERY reasonable prices. Seating is aroung old tables and tressles. Absolutely no pretention. Cakes are lovely. Seating outside in summer. Can get very busy. Sometimes there is a musician in the restauurant adding to the atmosphere. Dogs welcome too.

“An interesting venue in the "Arts Quarter"”
Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

A popular and crowded cafe with a shabby chic interior - which is similar to dingy and a little bit grotty! We were lucky to get a table on a Saturday lunchtime, the place was heaving and steamy - well it was raining!

We ordered two chicken curries with dahl, rice and riaita, one dahl and rice & a sausage baguette with glasses of tap water. It arrived reasonably quickly for a busy cafe and my curry was very good. Not very hot but that's fine for a cafe serving Joe Bloggs - it keeps the majority happy. Everyone else was happy with their food, followed by a good cuppa.

Why do you sense a touch of reservation? One of the party had a very upset tummy the next day and felt very poorly for 24 hours. Well three of ate dahl and only one felt poorly - so it could have been something else BUT after looking at the food eaten that day it seems unlikely.

The Red Brick Cafe looks a bit seedy and I don't feel that we would return, however I was OK and I enjoyed the food.

If you are in Bridport take a look but you might go elsewhere - your choice.

“Arty cafe”

Allow plenty of time as the service is not quick. Food is fine. Not sure about the toilets and general cleanliness so this makes me a bit reluctant to have anything other than a drink there if I'm honest.

“artisan cafe”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

We were visiting Dorset Art Week, and down on St Michael's Trading Estate we found the cafe with a mixture of chairs and tables outside. The cafe was busy, and had a lot of young workers behind the counter preparing all sorts of food from soup, main hot dishes, salads, sweets, teas, coffees and cold drinks. Reasonably priced, friendly and prompt service. Seating inside also, and upstairs to a toilet.
