Description: This is where it all began! Our first Stable restaurant, located at the back of The Bull Hotel in deepest Dorset. The story began in 2006 when Richard and Nikki took on the mammoth challenge of transforming a former 16th century coaching inn into a thriving boutique hotel. During The Hotel's revival they discovered the beautiful old stable block, which looked so far beyond repair they left it vacant for years. When Richard's brother Andy returned from his travels they came up with the idea to turn the space into a cider house, serving gourmet Dorset pizzas unlike anything else. In 2009, after a whole lot of hard graft, The Stable was born. It was a huge success and remains incredibly popular amongst locals and holidaymakers.

Great food, HUGE selection of ciders and friendly & knowledgeable staff. Has a lovely atmosphere and lots of familiar faces - with people coming back again and again.

Very popular in Bridport, and rightly so. Would definitely recommend.

Great cider, great pizza, great atmosphere, as said does what it promotes and does it bloody well!! Could be a little easier to find but that's probably due to us not knowing Bridport that well..

We have now eaten at The Stable several times and on each occasion the food has been fantastic. Tucked away behind the Bull Hotel off the high street, The Stable is an absolute gem. With long tables and bench seating this is not somewhere for a quiet romantic meal with your other half, go with friends for a sociable, relaxed bite to eat and you will leave in high spirits.
The Stable does pizza and pies with the odd salad option but to be honest, once you've tried a pizza you won't venture any further on the menu...these are rustic, thin base with crispy bubbles served on wooden boards with a pizza cutter and come in a range of mouthwatering toppings. whilst you could opt for a simple margherita it would almost be a cardinal sin when you could go for the 'Bucky Doo' (Dorset blue vinney, roasted Spanish onions, spinach and herb potato - sounds unusual but tastes amazing!) or the popular 'West Country Porker' (Bath Pig Co chorizo, mozzarella and rocket) or the spicy 'Bridport Blaster' (local chopped pork, chilli, garlic, red onion, basil, mushroom, tomato & mozzarella) to name but a few. All come in at around £10 each.
the Stable are also renowned for their extensive range of ciders (along with usual bar options) and you can purchase a Cider Taster which consists of 5 half pint glasses of different ciders served in a wooden taster tray, great fun!
If you find yourself still hungry, there is also a small selection of desserts including a hazelnut spread and mascarpone pizza. Mmmmmmmm!
can't recommend this bustling little restaurant highly enough!

We turned up after 9 on Easter Saturday, and the place was really busy. Good, lively atmosphere and an interesting selection of ciders. The one issue was how long it took to get the food (almost an hour i think) but it didn't spoil our evening at all and we settled in for pizza and cider, followed by several cocktails in the excellent cocktail bar upstairs at the bull. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. If you are on the clock or get stressed out by waiting then the stables might not be the best place to go, but if you want good food in a relaxed atmosphere it's definitely a good bet.

One thing that really struck us was how friendly the staff were in the stables and the cocktail bar. No sense that they are going through the motions to deliver scripted service, they all seemed genuinely welcoming to tourists and relaxed and chatty.

We waited 40 minutes for two pizzas. The place wasn't busy. We got them ten minutes before we had to leave for the theatre. Burnt mouths and discarded pizza.

Otherwise agree the positive reviews. Good food, nice atmosphere. Not sure that I would go back as there are better places in Bridport.
