A local pub which serves good food and beer in the best way possible for a pub. The owners clearly worked hard on their business giving a great customer experience (sorry for the jargon - but that actually is what it was!). The vegetarian options were different and the Tapenades to share made a great starter.

We were staying at the Caravan Club site at Long Bredy (about 1.5 miles from the White Horse). As caravanners, we usually treat ourselves to one "posh" meal over the weekend we checked at the "local" on the Saturday lunch time to see if they a) allowed dogs - yes and b) whether we had to book a table for the evening. The landlord could not have been more helpful and reserved us a table for 19:30. On arrival the place was already bustling and food was being served everywhere so it was a good job we had booked. We had a lovely meal (with first class Palmers 200 bitter) and the landlord attentively looked after us even though the place was full. Based on tis experience we booked for the Sunday lunch which was also up to expectations. The White Horse is off the beaten track but worth finding. It only has a small capacity therefore it is well worth booking. Recommended.

I visited the White Horse Inn in January for the first time and then again in May. It is a lovely little country pub in a beautiful quiet village. The couple who run the pub are really friendly and are working hard to make the most of their business. The pub does good food and occasionally themed menus and quizzes. It is dog friendly (on leads). The other customers are very friendly and helpful with their local knowledge, suggesting nice walks in the area.
There are some really stunning walks around Litton Cheney and there is no better way than finishing a nice walk with a couple of pints in a lovely country village pub, like this one.

Although only a few miles from where I live and on a cycle route I use regularly, I'd not visited the White Horse for over 10 years. The wait was worth it. New hosts are excellent and nothing too much trouble.
I'd enquired by email in advance of visiting on a mid week evening for somewhere to eat with my vegan friend. Val's response was excellent and encouraging, explaining that the chef Gary would be happy to prepare something suitable.
On arrival we were made very welcome, given a nice table and offered the menu from which both of us were able to make good choices, although Val had gone through a long list of other vegan options that chef Gary could create.
My friend chose a platter of toasted breads with a variety of toppings all beautifully presented and served with a little salad.
Although not a vegetarian or vegan, I chose the lentil and Brie tart (lentils with a flavoursome sauce on a filo pastry shell, topped with slices of Brie and lightly baked, all served with sauté potatoes and salad.
Prices were excellent and portions good, I can't usually resist a dessert but had no room. Will have to go back again and try a pud.
For anyone who isn't familiar with the pub and its' location, it is perched on the edge of the village of Litton Cheney, beside a stream with a garden to the front with benches and a lovely outlook.
Thoroughly recommend this place. I'll be back for sure.
Thanks Val, Kevan and Gary.

Thank you so much, we were only too happy to prepare a meal to your requirements, but for you to be able to choose something Vegan straight from the Main Menu was really pleasing. We always try to accommodate Customers needs wherever possible helped by the fact that Garry prepares all meals from scratch giving him the knowledge of all ingredients used in each dish. We look forward to seeing you again, hopefully in less than 10 years!!

This is a small village pub in a pretty, but tiny, village. But somehow they have managed to create a great menu, cooked really well, for an absolute song. Well, compared to the London prices I am used to, anyway,
The people running the pub are friendly and welcoming, as indeed are the locals.
It can't be easy running such a high class pub is such a small place, but they are doing it, and if you are in the area, give them your support, you won't be disappointed.
