“A lot of road noise at night”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

Very welcoming staff, very clean and well positioned. Close to the shops as well as the beach. Breakfasts were very good and well presented.
The only thing that spoilt our visit was the road noise at night. Though this is out of the control of the hotel

Room Tip: Car park can get a bit cramped when other guests leave to much of a gap between other cars

A very pleasant stay, staff very friendly & helpful, lovely bedroom, if a little small, bathroom with clean towels every day , very comfy big bed & lovely bedlinen, always well stocked with tea coffee & bottled water every day, Excellent breakfast with a good menu to choose from. A well stocked bar for the evenings. Would recommend, maybe more for the mature age group

From the friendly and cheerful reception, all the way through to the efficient check out this was an excellent stay that suited us ideally. We stayed for 2 nights mid-week. The location is ideal for walking into Bridport and having parking available was helpful. Our room (6) was very comfortable, well equipped, spotless and had a nice outlook. Breakfasts were generous and the smoked fish (order the evening before) was really nice.

We ate out the first night but had a "light" meal in the garden of the hotel on the second night. I ended up having three courses. It was delightful relaxing in the garden, the food was very good and the service efficient and friendly. The warm and dry weather did help!

For a relaxing break with friendly and efficient staff, I would strongly recommend the Bridge House Hotel.

Stayed one Friday night ready to attend a wedding on Saturday. Check in was really friendly. Room right at the top was quaint...everything needed was provided and bed was comfy. Minor gripes like it was very warm in the room, a bit cramped and there was no fixed shower. But more than made up for by an excellent breakfast, where nothing was too much trouble and the food was local, fresh and tasty.
Everyone was most accommodating, especially since the wedding was in town at 12.30 and check-out was 11. We spent a very happy hour sitting in the lounge and were even given a free pot of tea while we waited.
Not the cheapest stay but we were very satisfied with our choice.

We were travelling from North Cornwall to Hampshire and needed a midway stopping-off point. This Hotel was just the place! Bridport sits almost an exact midway point in our journey. The staff tell me that many people travelling from London going to Cornwall use it for the same reason. Bridport sits just 1 mile or so from a lovely little harbour and beach called West Bay. So once you've checked-in, pop down the road to the harbour for a walk around or maybe a sit on the beach and shake the stress of your journey away. The Bridge Hotel does not have a restaurant but offers Breakfast. So sit on the harbour wall and have a fish & chip supper or visit one of the many restaurants in Bridport itself. We opted for the fish & chips but the restaurants looked very good if you wanted something a bit special.
The hotel staff were very welcoming and keen to offer any help needed. The building is a 17th century Inn. It is very clean and tidy, the furnishings are lovely and in keeping with an old coaching inn. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep to set us up for the remainder of our journey. Breakfast was either a continental style or the usual "English", it was very good and everything freshly cooked. There were locally made jams and marmalades to try and if you liked them they were for sale as well. (There was also local art work for sale).
Although as I said we were there purely to break a long journey, we came away feeling we had been on holiday. You can't say better than that!

Third time I've stayed here, travelling alone and on business. Always friendly greeting, painless check in, and a cup of tea after a long drive...what more could you ask. Well, pretty room, lovely comfy bed and soft and spotless linen. Breakfast could set you up for the whole day...it's fresh, tasty and locally sourced. A couple of nice restaurants a short walk away if you are hungry in the evening...or Sam makes a mean salad in the wine bar downstairs.
Would I stay again?...I already have!

Thoroughly enjoyed our late-booking, over-night stay - we arrived late into the evening and were greeted by a very happy and very member of staff. Our bed was lovely and comfortable, and the linen was incredibly soft! Breakfast was superb and they were happy to cook for us early! All in all a great place to stay, with a very warm welcome.
