we have stayed here numerios times over last 5 years and after a years break, we went back...big mistake.
The big appeal of this site is the views, but beware..On a previous visit, we had been warned they were expecting strong winds and after going to the allocated pitch we decided the wind was too strong and paid a bit extra to move to a sheltered pitch surrounded by hedging and had an enjoyable stay. However, on this visit, on this visit, no warning was given, we paid almost £90 for 3 nights and after the first night, we noticed the wind increasing to a point the tent was starting to blow away. i went to reception to advise of the issue to be rudely told "NO" to moving pitch as they were fully booked. No refund would also be offered. A sign had been put up to say they expected high winds and to be careful, but they were still happy to be taking money from another couple to camp in our area as i left. Within an hours, our tent was destroyed by the wind (along with several others) and we had to leave....

Similar to many coastal parks we can on occasions experience strong onshore winds and when this happens we try to give warnings as soon as we realise the forecast may have an impact.

Highlands End is in an outstanding location and similar to this reviewer many people return on numerous occasion to enjoy the spectacular coastal views, however, our one disadvantage on occasions can be the wind.

As mentioned above, when this happens we try and manage the situation and new arrivals are offered the option to transfer bookings to Graston Copse, our inland park a short distance away, re-arrange or wait for a few hours until the wind drops. I am very surprised to hear that our staff were ‘rude’ when I have received reports from several guests very pleased with the help they were given.

Yes, guests do still ask to book-in when it is not ideal weather conditions and we have many examples of experienced campers who wish to make their own decision.

We booked this at the last minute, the week before arrival, having looked at lodges and static caravans on a number of holiday parks in the area, at a cost of £600+ for a Monday to Friday break. I had already been camping once this summer holiday and really couldn't face pitching our tent again! This, coupled with the uncertain weather forecast, led us to choose a Pod at Highlands End. The holiday park itself is lovely with spectacular views along the coast and inland to Bridport. Shower and toilet block was excellent and I never saw a queue for showers.

We took all our camping gear and set up an enclosed area using a windbreak where we had our camping chairs, small table, camping stove and bucket BBQ. We were able to plug in a travel kettle to make hot drinks and also used our small toaster (not entirely sure this complies with the rules about cooking inside though!). We were fortunate with the weather and were able to sit outside most of the time - once the evenings drew in we cosied up inside to read a book while our teenage children used their ipods.

We enjoyed walking along the coast path down into West Bay and also had trips into Lyme Regis, Bridport and a day on the beach at Burton Bradstock.

Yes the Pod is snug, but it is exactly what we expected from the photographs on the website, and compared to the cost of a static or lodge, I felt it was quite reasonable in price. It was also fun to stay in something a bit different! Will be highly recommending to friends and family.

Thank you for your very informative review, it looks like you and your family had a very enjoyable holiday at Highlands End. When we introduced the Pods to the holiday park we hoped they would be a stress free alternative to camping and that definitely seems to have been the outcome for you. We are very grateful that you will be recommending us to your family and friends and we hope you will be able to visit us again in the future. Please don't forget we do also have camping Pods at Golden Cap Holiday Park, which is also a great location for family holidays and approximately 3 miles along the Jurassic coast from Highlands End.

The site itself is pleasant, clean and the staff are friendly. We stayed in one of the two camping pods. Now, I was not expecting a palace, but it was expensive for the week and the tent we have is bigger (why didn't we use the tent? Ask my wife!). The beds could not fold away and this limits the available space during the day. Also, at 6 foot tall, I am no giant, but repeatedly bashed my head on the curved side of the pod whilst negotiating the double bed.
If you couple the high price for the pod with a couple of meals and swimming, the cost really mounts up. I would not recommend the 'pod' for 4 people either, but we did feel smug in the windy nights!
If you ask me, it is a lovely site, but you are best off in a tent.

Thank you for your review and we do appreciate your comments about the Camping Pod. We have tried to give our customers as much detail as possible about the new Pods on the website, with a number of pictures that show the exterior and interior along with the Pod measurements. We welcomed the pods to the holiday park as we believed it would be a stress free option for some camping families, they could leave the tent at home but still go camping. We appreciate that it will not suit all campers but it is worth giving them a go and the children seem to love the novelty Camping Pod. We are going to hopefully purchase more Pods soon and will certainly taken ito account your comments for the new additions. We do still have a number of camping pitches for people that do prefer camping in a Tent and Caravan Holiday Homes for hire for others that prefer a bit of extra comfort.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at Highlands End in our touring caravan. The site is excellent with a good variety of pitches which you are allowed to choose yourself on arrival. The shower and toilet facilities are very clean and modern.
The on-site bar and restaurant has a very extensive menu and we ate there twice, good quality food at sensible prices, and 3 real ales too!!

Give Highlands End a try, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for your review, it is always a pleasure for us to read that our customers have enjoyed their stay and that we're meeting expectations. We are very proud of our restaurant and the newly refurbished toilet block. We hope that you will be able to visit again soon or else take a look at 3 of our other holiday parks which are also located within West Dorset and suitable for touring vehicles.
