My wife and I visited on 14th Nov, as a treat for our birthdays, as we had been a fan of Matt through Masterchef, and were not disappointed. Our visit was on a Wednesday, and the restaurant was quiet, lacking in some atmosphere, but this did not affect the food. The popcorn arrived, ( I had been looking forward to this after reading the reviews ) and it was a good and different start to the meal. The cassoulet arrived for me, nothing wrong there cleaned the plate, the wife saved herself for main. We both elected for the venison, which was very acceptable but lacking in game flavour. The desserts however were superb. We had the selection between us and the dish was cleaned up, the lavender panne cotta, and liquorish cream were superb. Matt then visited the table, offered complimentary drinks and was very sociable, thank you. A long way to travel, from the Midlands, but well worth the effort.
