Just been away to Woolacombe for the weekend, and returned to the Fortescue Arms for our Sunday evening meal, possibly 25 years after having last visited. I have to say the décor didn't look much different from before, but if you can see beyond that the food was out of this world!! On special at £12.95 for 2 courses, the Carvery is the best tasting and best value Carvery I've probably ever had, my plate was piled so high I thought I wouldn't be able to eat it all, but it was so delicious that I didn't stop until it was all gone. Plenty of choices on veg too, 5 or 6 choices compared to the usual 3 or 4, and fresh as well, no frozen or pre-prepared stuff there. The desert, which was freshly made on site, was a sort of white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake, it tasted as good as it looked, you certainly couldn't fault anything. My extremely fussy 8 year old daughter didn't even complain about the spaghetti bolognaise, so they must have done something right! My highest commendations to the chef, and well done to all the other staff, who were extremely polite and courteous at all times. I'd fully recommend this to anyone.

We found this place whilst on a short break in north Devon. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful and when we asked for new potatoes instead of the advertised mash, he was more than happy to oblige. There was a good looking carvery but we decided to eat from the menu instead and were very pleased with the food. Reasonably priced and comfortable, with plenty of outside space for families

We visited The Fortescue Arms with our family and a few friends as we were staying nearby. We all thought the food was fantastic, my 11 year old had the carvery 3 nights running! We all enjoyed the carvery you could tell it was homemade and freshly cooked veg. We also ate off of the restaurant menu and again everything was cooked to order. We would definitely recommend this pub the food was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

The exterior of this pub could do with some TLC - in fairness this was happening when we visited. Please don't be deterred - Inside a very warm welcome awaits. Relaxed atmosphere with very friendly staff and good music. Lovely tasty pub food, with some good veggie options including a veggie carvery with nut roast. Dog friendly too!

We had a family gathering in Mortehoe, and had agreed on Fortescue Arms for a lunch afterwards. We were a party of eight, with two of us vegetarians. We were delighted at the spread before us and the vegetarians were very satisfied with the meal for them. The food was good quality and so much that we didn't all find room for desserts. Thank you for rounding off a great weekend perfectly.
