Just been away to Woolacombe for the weekend, and returned to the Fortescue Arms for our Sunday evening meal, possibly 25 years after having last visited. I have to say the décor didn't look much different from before, but if you can see beyond that the food was out of this world!! On special at £12.95 for 2 courses, the Carvery is the best tasting and best value Carvery I've probably ever had, my plate was piled so high I thought I wouldn't be able to eat it all, but it was so delicious that I didn't stop until it was all gone. Plenty of choices on veg too, 5 or 6 choices compared to the usual 3 or 4, and fresh as well, no frozen or pre-prepared stuff there. The desert, which was freshly made on site, was a sort of white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake, it tasted as good as it looked, you certainly couldn't fault anything. My extremely fussy 8 year old daughter didn't even complain about the spaghetti bolognaise, so they must have done something right! My highest commendations to the chef, and well done to all the other staff, who were extremely polite and courteous at all times. I'd fully recommend this to anyone.
