Well we popped into the Fortescue Arms for a Carvery while staying at the Golden Coast resort just across the road and we are really pleased we did. The staff were very friendly and chatty the decor inside is very clean and spacious a most welcoming. Well what can you say about the Carvery seeing as most carvers are very much the same however this one tasted really good with a choice of three meats and a vegetarian and beautiful Crispy potatoes. We are not ones for starters or sweets but I am sure if we did they would have been just as good. There is also a very good selection on the main menus. I was also impressed with the free wifi which is charged for at the golden coast resort. Finally we don't have a dog but a customer asked if they could bring their dog in to which the reply was yes then when they ordered their drinks they were asked if they would like a bowl of water for the dog which was given in a stainless steel bowl. The Fortescue Arms has got it right .Welcoming, friendly, and accommodating with good food to boot. Well done to the owners and staff.

After having ridden a bike up a very very big hill to find this place was a warming site! Right next to the cycle track from Woolacombe bay to Ilfracombe and next to the road its in the perfect location. They had lots on offer and some lovely specials. When the food came out it was well presented cooked to perfection and it was a generous portion. The place itself is a bit dated but the food was definitely up to scratch

We were enjoying a 3 night break at Twitchen House caravan park and went here for a meal. Simply because we had had a long day and this was the nearest eatery to the site......we weren't expecting anything special.
What a lovely surprise! At 7.30 on a Sunday evening we only waited 10 minutes for a table for 4. Having come in expecting a 'bog standard' carvery we were pleasantly surprised at the diversity of choice on the menu. I went with the carvery and enjoyed roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, leeks, swede, carrots and gravy. My husband chose the mixed grill, my son the rack of ribs and my grandson the lamb curry. Each meal was served hot and was cooked to perfection, portion sizes were good and our waitress service could not be faulted. We followed with desserts which, again, could not be faulted. This meal for 4 came in at £55 which we thought was excellent value.......we would recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone and I am so glad that we took the chance. Thank you to all staff at the forte sue for a delightful evening.
