Me and my girlfriend we're in Woolacombe for a 2night birthday retreat from Bristol. We decided on the Bay Brasserie Bar as our location for her main birthday meal and they did not disappoint!

Great attentive service, lovely food and resonable prices. This was all in a very slickly decorated interior, overall a lovely experience and one I highly recommend as one of the 'fancier' places to eat in Woolacombe!

Great menu, and children's menu was basic but good quality and value for money. Lovely bar and terrace with stunning views of the bay whilst we waited just 25-mins for them to accommodate a table if 9 people.

A group of 7 of us ate here last night for my birthday. We didn't know the area and fortunately hadn't checked the Trip Advisor reviews prior to dining ... luckily, as we may have changed our minds. We had the best experience from start to finish and would like to encourage anyone who might be put off by some previous reviews to think again. It was a very busy night and we had not booked a table. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait and so we bought some drinks and went out to the beautifully tended lawns to sit and wait. No more than 20 minutes passed before a waitress came out to find us and said they could fit us in earlier. She showed us to our table which was situated in a modern glass and timber atrium. We all had three courses and coffee. My husband and I had the seafood starter to share which was a superb selection of fresh shellfish served on a slate platter. The main courses were equally impressive and tasty, as were the beautifully presented desserts. We considered the prices to be very reasonable compared to similar standard restaurants in other areas, and the service from all of the waiting staff was impeccable.

We had a wonderful evening, wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will certainly return when next in the area.

We arrived at 8.00 p.m. and were made to wait until 9.00, not because there were no tables free, but because the kitchens can only cope with a limited number of diners. The brasserie is a cleverly adapted space, glassed in between two buildings, with stylish furnishings. The service was willing and reasonably efficient. By this time our appetites were waning and we were looking for a light meal. We ordered Cornish sardines, which were filleted and steamed rather than grilled, very fresh but very filling. They were served on a wooden board with a good salad, and with a glass of wine each, the bill came to under £30. The Woolacombe Bay Hotel has pretensions to be high class, and the whole experience, although a pleasant enough evening, did not quite match up to its ambitions.
