I've stayed here on business for about 10nights in the last year - usually in the autumn / wintertime - the hotel seems very quiet during this time (I presume it's more popular in the summer for the golfers).
The rooms are nice enough (perfectly clean and comfy, just nothing great) and the staff always seem really helpful and friendly. Or maybe they just chat to me as there aren't any other guests around?!
The restaurant is average but the menu choice can be a bit limited. The bar 'corner' is a little unwelcoming too. Breakfast is a cold buffet + hot food from the menu. Breakfasts are always nice but on a 3 day stay I managed to get 3 different versions of the same food order across the days - you would have though poached egg on toast wouldn't be complicated right?!
You get access to the leisure centre attached to the building - good sized gym, squash court, pool, exercise class room etc.
Other bits of info - there's loads of free parking, internet is about £5/day or £12/5days (I think) and quite slow as expected in most hotels and phone signal can be very dodgy (struggle to get any signal on Three & Orange, Vodafone seems ok).
I havent commented on the golf as I travel for business and I'm rubbish at golf - but apparently the course is very good?

Stayed here for one night as part of a Christmas party group and I was pretty disappointed overall. Our room was clean but small. Wi Fi is charged for per hour. No mini bar. No safe.

Me and my partner went for a drink at the bar when we checked in but it was cold and lacked atmosphere, very basic, tried to buy some peanuts/crisps/olives or a snack to go with a gin and tonic but nothing available.
The function room in which the meal was held was cold, set out in long tables so we weren't really attached to the rest of our group, round tables would have been much better. There was only one small bar and there was always quite a wait for drinks.

We were really surprised and unhappy that they finished serving breakfast at 9.30am!! On a Sunday after a party??!! We asked if they could recommend somewhere nearby where we could get a breakfast and were told to go to a service station?!!

Maybe the golf and spa section of this hotel is it's saving grace, we didn't try either, I would say if you aren't going there to use either of those then don't bother to go

We have a friend who recently brought a house near Sidmouth and they invited us down to see them. We decided to stay at the Woodbury Park Hotel. Well the location is wonderful, the room is exceptionally clean, a bit basic prehaps but nicely furnished. Is it a 4 star, probably not. We didn't fancy a full meal so we ventured to the golf club for a snack. We ordered 2 plates of pasta (what can go wrong) plenty it seems. The pasta has been cooked to a paste and looked disgusting! We commented on this and was immediatey offered a refund. I would still recommend the hotel but dont bother to eat there.

Stayed whilst on business with colleagues;

Really impressed, great rooms, clean tidy and the facilities were top class,

Staff were great and the food was of a good standard but was a little on the expensive side;

Overall, a impressive place with great staff.

We spent two nights at the hotel, in a standard twin room which was more than adequately sized, and were fortunate that the weather, while good was not unduly warm, as the windows opened only about half way, which could create problems on a hot night. The beds were OK, but rather soft for my liking, and the mattresses rather thin. The bathroom was fine, with a good-flowing shower.

Breakfasts were fine, with hot food being freshly cooked, and including kippers and smoked haddock - not things you see very often these days. The lunch we had (we were there for a 50th wedding celebration) was standard function food, but tasty enough.

The setting is excellent - in the middle of splendid countryside, and with a rather nice-looking golf course, which I gather is pretty challenging - next time, perhaps.

Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Enjoyed the Nigel Mansell museum. Food was lovely in the Atrium restaurant. Leisure Centre has seen better days and prob could do with a facelift - but it was empty which suited us.

I arranged a 'sophistictaed hen party' 12 lovely ladies and we stayed in a mixture of double and twin rooms and also had one of the lodges. Everything was clean, the quality of linen was excellent and the beds comfortable. The food was outstanding, and plenty of it too - and the choice of wine was very good. The spa facilities suited us perfectly and our lovely hen enjoyed her top to toe treatment very much. I'm thinking of booking my Mum in for a weekend as she's a mad keen golfer and the couse looked wonderful. Everyone felt at home and we all relaxed and enjoyed ourselves so much in the peaceful countryside. Wonderful place and people and can definately recommend Woodbury park.
