“Wonderful Kneelers”
Review of St Peter's Church

St Peter's Church
Reviewed September 20, 2013

The church is full of wonderfully embroidered kneelers all placed on show. The church was unlocked and appeared to be unmanned. We were delighted to discover that a gentleman of the same name as my husband had been an early Churchwarden there in 15 C as well as a rich merchant. Lovely church to visit.

We were only able to have a short visit but the church was very nice, particularly the older part. The embroidered cushions on the pew shelves were very colourful and interesting. It is so close to the centre of town, the river and Totnes Castle that it is a must see

The services are both traditional with slight modern changes it is particularly nice to have an organ played at the services. The church is open to visitors on most days and manned by volunteer stewards willing to answer any questions about the historical content of the church that is on over 900 years old consecrated gound , the oldest item in the current church building is the Norman door

Came here for a wedding. Parking a bit tricky but the church, it's setting, yard, exterior and interior are well maintained, interesting and span many centuries. The inside is very well furnished with good glass, box pews, a big brass gilt chandelier, a powerful and delightful organ and lots more.
