“Fantastic breakfast, lovely location & friendly owners”

Had a lovely 2 days here, the location was great- right by a lovely canal which was beautiful to walk along in the sun. The room had everything we needed and very comfortable. Mr and Mrs Pugsley were incredibly welcoming- Mr Pugsley taught us how to play Croquet and gave us a tour of their amazing vegetable patch! We arrived very late on the Friday night and we were still welcomed even at 12am!
If we ever travel back to Tiverton, we would definitely stay again.

Our fourth stay here with Mr and Mrs Pugsley, and how welcome we are made each time we visit. This beautiful house and it's lovely owners provide a much needed stopover for us on our way to Cornwall, and we always enjoy the lovely clean, comfortable and homely rooms. Mum and Dad had the ground floor ensuite, with french windows overlooking the garden, while sister and I have the first floor twin, with private bathroom (robes provided!). We don't find having a separate bathroom inconvenient as better a spacious bathroom than a poky add-on! The rooms, like the whole wonderful house are full of interesting and historic furniture, with elegant decor. The other room has a four poster. All rooms are spacious, have a TV and tea and coffee extras.
As usual we were given a wonderful breakfast, with fresh home grown fruit, home made bread and preserves and freshly cooked main breakfast. Plenty of choices, catered for our vegetarian needs and a beautifully laid table in a fabulous dining room.
Nothing was too much trouble, such as letting us use the dining room for our evening fish and chip supper, and allowing our dogs to stay in the garden camping with my husband. We have never come across a B + B with such accommodating and friendly owners.
Hornhill is 5 minutes from the centre of Tiverton, easy to find if you follow directions. The hill is true Devon, very steep! Drivers of long, large cars will need to take care turning in as the drive is quite narrow off the steep hill, but no real problem.
Tiverton is very interesting, with lots to see and do nearby, so this B + B deserves much more than the overnight stay we tend to do. Knightshayes Court (NT) is nearby, as is the wonderful Great Western Canal country park.
Thank you again, Mr and Mrs Pugsley.

Room Tip: Downstairs is only ensuite with shower, upstairs is private bathrooms with robes and baths!

An interesting, relaxed old house and Barbara our host was pleasant and friendly. It's a real family home, with elegant decor and huge rooms. Lovely breakfast, too and big gardens. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that our bathroom was no ensuite, we did have robes so could walk down the hallway covered up, but I just prefer an ensuite. However it did have a bath not just a shower! If you plan to walk or cycle be aware that there is an extremely long and high hill leading from Tiverton town to the house. Tiverton is a pleasant country town with useful shops. .

My wife and I have stayed here twice now and on both occasions we were met with a very friendly and welcoming reception.
The bedroom was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very well cooked and delicious.
The house is interesting and Barabara was very willing to share its history with us
Although the driveway is a little difficult to negotiate if you have a big vehicle it is well worth the effort and there are great views down over Tiverton town, especially at night.

This was our second visit to Barbara and Peter's B&B. They were just as welcoming as our first visit 4 years ago. It is an experience just being in their wonderful period home, let alone the comfy bed and delightful breakfast.
It is rather tricky exiting the driveway and requires vigilance and care.

Room Tip: Ask if the upstairs room is available. It is rather grand and special.

The B&B is set in lovely garden surrounds and the old coaching inn is full of history and marvelous antiques.
Hosts: Barbara & Peter welcomed us to Hornhill with cake and coffee. They were very friendly and provided useful information about nearby eating options.

Breakfast: We enjoyed a very tasty and generous breakfast served in a wonderful period dining room.
Rooms: We occupied two rooms. The downstairs room with ensuite was very small but very comfortable. It had lovely country side views through French doors. Lots of small touches that made the stay even more comfortable such as books, toiletries and shoe cleaning kit. The upstairs room with twin beds and sitting area was very spacious and the private bathroom was located down the corridor.

My friend and I stayed here recently on a business trip and were delighted with our twin room, which had comfy beds and its own spacious bathroom across the landing where we found little toiletries for our personal use and large soft fluffy towels too. The house is large and has beautiful antique furniture, is set just on the outskirts of Tiverton up a hill, and has a quiet garden overlooking pretty fields and ample land, making it incredibly quiet and peaceful.

Breakfast is served in the fabulous large dining room with cereal, yoghurt, fruit, berries and seeds, toast, butter, marmalade and jam and of course a delicious cooked full English if desired. Tea, coffee and orange juice is also served. I felt like the queen sitting at the oversized dining table ha!! Enjoyable. We were particularly taken with the stag wearing hats!! Wonderful :-)

Barbara was a wonderful host and made us feel incredibly welcome indeed and our stay was truly most enjoyable with a lovely serene atmosphere.

Well recommended and I'd certainly stay again if I visit the area one day.

Many thanks
