“relaxing afternoon”

A few days ago we spent a wonderful afternoon aboard this lovely barge. Our horse 'Bailey' was a darling and his rhythmic footstep along with the sound of the canal where magical. Many thanks to Dave Tim and the two Sams. Ordinary people doing a wonderful job. THANKYOU. Recommend this to all..

“Takes you back in time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

We did the 2 1/2 hour afternoon trip on the last Sunday in September, fortunately it was a dry day. There were about 20 passengers on board, which was nice as it wasn't crowded, I would think it would be advisable to book during busier days in the summer. I agree with Richard R that the 2 minutes silence should be extended ! The lady sat behind us didn't shut up for the entire journey (apart from the 2 minutes), & an American lady at the other end kept us all informed of her plans for Thanksgiving & Christmas.
It was a peaceful trip, the crew on board were helpful & informative. We were accompanied by Roxy the dog who spent part of the trip riding on horse Taffys back. Taffy is very fond of polo mints, so take some with you to give him at the halfway stop, you can also buy them on board. There is a bar on board which serves hot & cold drinks, & a toilet is available.
Would definately do this trip again. There are also reviews under Great Western Canal

“Lovely day out”

There is not many such attraction left in England. Lovely slow pace horse drawn boat. Views of the country side and wildlife around the canal are exceptional. Cute dog riding the horse are bonus! Had tea and cake at the start of the canal before the trip. Very reasonably price with great views. My friend were surprise as people normally charge for higher price for attraction venues.

If you are not going for the trip, its free to visit and walk along the canal. £1 for 2 hours carpark. Guess its going to be very busy during summer.

“Pleasant Horse drawn Barge Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2013

I follow the Sentiments of previous Review "mbreary"
We also spent a pleasurable 2 1/2 hours being pulled along by a lovely Shire/ welsh Cob cross Horse along the canal in a barge. It was a shame that the majority of people on our trip just wanted to talk and were not interested in the beautiful surroundings. I really think the 2 minute silence should be extended to allow full appreciation of the noise of the birds and the water and the clip clop of the horse on the tow path. Enjoyed the commentary on the way home from our host. There are only 4 of these left in the country so worth booking a trip.
We even Managed to spot a couple of King Fishers on the way.
Had a couple of people sitting in front of us who spent all the time leaning out of the window throwing bread, cake & crisps to the Ducks, & spent all the time giggling. Think the 2 minute Silence should be extended to at least 10 minutes. Staff very friendly with good knowledge of the dynamics & physics of Pulling barges.

“Great experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

This is pure nostalgia.

The staff were extremely helpful, and a humorous talk was provided by a crew member on the return leg. Although not as scenic as some canals, there was plenty of wildlife to spot, plus various plant life.

The barge is has onboard toilet facilities and refreshments.

A great way to relax.
