“Very pleasant friendly place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

I booked to stay here while down in Tiverton too celebrate my mum's 80th birthday. I had a single room. I had a very pleasant 2 nights. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely with the choice of menu for breakfast was nice. plenty to start you for the day. The place had that nice cosy cottage feeling. I would stay here again and recommend to friends or family if they were looking for somewhere to stay down that way.

We had booked in for two nights on arriving the hotel from the outside looked very quaint. I went in book in to get our keys and thought the reception area to be a bit tatty on rec our keys i proceeded to go up the stairs the carpet was quite grubby. I walked into our double room and the first thing i saw was a television and stand that was covered in a thick layer of dust. the ledge under the window was also covered in dust but was also very mucky, My husband came in and asked if I wanted to stay. on inspecting the rest of the room and washing over the tv and the ledge I decided we could put up with it for two nights, the bed was clean. Our breakfasts were very nice and helped to see us through the day. In the evening after we had been out for a meal we sat with other visitors to the hotel. they seemed to love it there
and said they were regulars there. If only this hotel were to be upgraded it would be a really nice place to stay.

Room Tip: front rooms overlook the gardens

Such a pleasant change from the impersonal, characterless chains. Also staying for the balloon festival, mainly booked because of proximity. Only dumped our stuff & straight out so didn't get to try the menu but breakfast was fresh & filling.
A really friendly welcome & still up after midnight when we rolled in. Garden is shady & peaceful.
Decor is certainly of a certain vintage but it just adds to the charm.

We stayed in the hotel as it was close to the Tiverton Balloon Festival and the bigger more expensive hotels were full. We were pleasantly surprised! We stayed in the loft (spiders obviously stay outside in the hot weather as we didn't see any) although not up to the standard we usually pay for this hotel is well worth the money. The two rooms were clean, we found our bed comfy and although no bath, the shower worked well considering we were in the roof. (Prop the door open if you stay when the temperatures are high). The wonderful cottage garden was most welcoming considering the heat of the weekend and kept our 5yr old amused for a while as we supped a glass of wine in the welcome shade. Food was good and home made and if the veg patch is anything to go by is also home produced - sorry about the raspberries, I think our son ate most of them. If coming up to the balloon festival again we will definitely book in at Lodgehill

Room Tip: If travelling with children ask for room 9 in the loft

Some highs and lows. Super friendly service, very willing to help and accomodate needs. The property however was pretty run down and dated, and a bit damp in places. If you are looking for crisp and clean look elsewhere. If you want informal and very helpful owners give it a go.

Just had a two night stay in room 3 and cannot praise the owners highly enough for fantastic service and for accommodating our every request ( including a 5am breakfast as attending a triathlon at Wimbleball Lake). Rooms clean and tea and coffee facilities, dinner was freshly cooked with plenty of choice and they sourced soya milk for us at short notice too. Definitely recommended for value, friendliness and home cooking....that personal touch so often lacking in hotel chains is not to be missed.

friendly hotel away from any main roads, nice and quiet at night.
good food and family rooms are big.
clean
has a bar
and breakfast is a must, so is the fresh fish and chips.

large choice of main meals
good selection of drinks.
its a great place to stop on the way to your holliday destination or to stay after a days work.
relaxing and no noise from the roads.
stayed here for a total of 10 days and had no problems what so ever, if i did i would imagine it would of been sorted out very quickly.

Room Tip: i had room 9 family room
