“Just Perfect”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

We stayed at Potters Mooring for 2 nights 9th/10th Feb 2013 and it was perfect for us. We had a warm welcome and although we were expecting to stay in a double room our hosts decided that it might suit us better to stay in the cottage within the courtyard. The cottage was delightful, lovely lounge/kitchen downstairs and upstairs a large bedroom with so much storage space and bathroom. Everything was so clean, warm and comfortable. We were spoilt for choice with breakfast which was beautifully cooked and we sat both mornings in the lovely little bay window at the front. Hospitality tray was replenished and towels changed even though we only stayed 2 nights. We had never stayed in this area before and thought Shaldon was fabulous. Several places to eat, couple of pubs, live music all within walking distance. Lovely walk along the riverside leading out to the estuary. We will definitely be back, maybe in the Summer next time.

Room Tip: Would recommend courtyard cottages, which are not bookable on the web site apparently, so you would...

Went this weekend for 2 nights and have to say it was a wonderful stay. We were allocated the family room which was very spacious and well equipped. The facilities in the room were excellent, choice of teas, coffees and hot chocolate. It was great to see a large TV instead of a tiny portable. The room was spotless and bathroom immaculate. One small downside (and this wouldn't be for everyone) the duvet was an eiderdown and my partner and I suffer from allergies so we ended up putting it in the wardrobe. The breakfast was amazing. Another small downside is that the area and carpark is very tight for parking, so take a smart car!!!

Just a quick review to say, we feel this is the best B and B we have ever stayed in. Our dog (pippa) joined us and she had a warm welcome which was a nice touch. Our room looked out on the bowling green, the decor and furnishings are lovely and the bed is very comfortable. Breakfast is beautiful, very hot and fresh local ingredients.
I have already recommended this place to family and friends. We will be back! Thanks to Lin and family x

We stayed at the Potters Mooring Hotel on the 26.1.13 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Although we were only expecting a double room we were allocated a small cottage in the courtyard at the rear of the hotel, which was a very pleasant surprise. The accommodation was exceptionally clean and well laid out. The breakfast was superb and the owners were extremely hospitable. Booking via booking.com was very straight forward and efficient. The pub next door served a varied selection of food and fantastic tribute beer, we would really recommend a visit to the London Inn. We are so glad we found this little gem and will definitely stay again, one of the best hotels we have stayed in for some time.

Stayed for one night whilst visiting Devon.

Booked online which worked Ok.

The property faces onto the village green with and has a pub right next door. Parking is a tight squeeze and requires some negotiating getting out - breath in!

Dog friendly, and our pooch was made most welcome.

The hallway and breakfast room decor is very nice giving a lovely atmosphere of an English home . We were in one of the attic bedrooms, clean and tidy, furniture quite modern for a period home but comfortable none the less . There was a view if the river estuary over the top of the village buildings.

Breakfast was excellent, as well as the option of a traditional Full English, you could also have smoked kippers or smoked salmon. Excellent.

Shaldon is a nice village, still with most amenities amazingly, and at least four pubs that we saw. We ate in the Clifford's inn which was very good with a good range if Ale's.

Cost was £65 a room per night. At this price it was fair value . We would be happy to return.

Well, me and my partner went here for a short break end of March 2011 and we enjoyed every minute. The Room was lovely and breakfasts were brilliant. (I could just eat one now) There were also a few pubs in the area of Sheldon, but eat early as we ventured out about 8pm (accross into teignmouth and everywhere was closing ( time of year perhaps?).

Shelden is a lovely little place and ideal for that relaxing get away.

Pottors Mooring is highly recommended where no regrets will be had.

My wife and I spent a night here for our wedding anniversary. We love Shaldon and the reviews on this guest house were excellent. The house is on the edge of the village bowling green and room 2, the one we had, overlooked it. Passing through the front door, you feel as though you have entered through a bit of a time warp. In the nicest possible way I hasten to add. A far cry from the sterile hotels you stay in, in the towns and cities. This one has a very homely atmosphere, enhanced by the warm welcome given by Bob and Linda (+ an enthusiast pooch) Bob showed us to our room and helped us with the luggage. At my request when booking the room, he had recommended and got us a table at the Clifford Arms 150 yards away, for my wife and I to indulge in our celebrations.
The house is very clean and the decor in excellent order. If I was to knit pick, I would say that the room we had (2) was blessed with a very large window which made it light and airy. The cill however, was only about 18" off the floor and you felt that you were sat in a gold fish bowl for all passers by to stare at. Not a problem at this time of year, but in summer? The car park is very tight for manouvering when full, made worse by individuals parking right opposite the entrance in what can best be described as a very narrow lane. Some drivers......
Breakfasts are excellent and done exactly as you like them. Overall, hard to fault.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front overlook the village green and the bowling green. There are no estuary views.
