A lovely shaded beer garden after a day on the beach. Dog friendly too. Good children's area with a pool table and skittle alley

Enticed by the previous Trip Advisor reviews, I wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff, good Sunday Lunch, large portions. What more could we ask for after an active session on the beach?

We never actually got to eat here but tried to... We had been there every day for about a week and spent about £30 on 2 rounds of drinks each early evening. We liked the look of the specials board so decided to go for a meal on the one evening of our holiday that we had a baby sitter. We arrived about 7pm and every table was full. We were told they didn't take reservations but a table would probably be about half an hour. That was fine with us but as there was nowhere to sit to have a drink while we waited except for standing at the bar right in front of diners or sit outside in the pouring rain we'd come back in half an hour only to be told that they couldn't hold a table for half an hour. We hadn't asked for that, just said we'd come back when they said a table would be available. We gave up and went somewhere else. Didn't feel welcome.

Great pub, lovely food! Morthoe is a beautiful gem of a village and this pub doesn't not let it down. A great place to stop after a long walk along the coast. The pub garden is great and the service is friendly.

I had the best steak cooked for me from a pub in the Chichester Arms, and my wife had the best vegetarian lasagne as well.
